How to check if STD extension paperwork was received? Need help ASAP!

Hey everyone, I'm trying to get my short-term disability extended and I'm wondering if anyone else has gone through this process. I've submitted all the paperwork but I'm not sure if it's been received or if I'll get my continued benefit payments. Has anyone dealt with this before? Any tips on how to check the status or make sure everything is in order?

Ugh, been there done that. It's such a pain in the ass to deal with the disability office. I swear they make it complicated on purpose 🙄 Have you tried calling them directly? That's usually the best way to get a straight answer.

I've been trying to call but the wait times are insane. I was on hold for like 2 hours yesterday and then got disconnected 😫

Pro tip: call right when they open. Like, set an alarm and be ready to dial the second they start taking calls. It's annoying but way better than waiting all day.

Oh man, getting disconnected after waiting that long is the WORST. I feel for you, OP. Hang in there!

I actually found a way to get someone on the phone without the crazy wait times. I used this site called claimyr.com - it's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then sends the call to your phone when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda steep just to make a phone call...

I get the skepticism, but it honestly saved me so much time and frustration. Worth every penny imho. And yeah, it's legit - they've got good reviews online if you wanna check.

Holy crap, I just tried this and it actually worked! Got through to someone in like 30 minutes. Thanks for the tip! 🙌

Here's what you need to do to make sure your STD gets extended: 1. Double-check all your paperwork is filled out correctly. Any tiny mistake can delay the process. 2. Get a letter from your doctor explaining why you need the extension. Be specific about your condition and recovery timeline. 3. Submit everything at least 2 weeks before your current benefits end. 4. Keep copies of EVERYTHING you send them. 5. Follow up with a phone call to confirm they received your documents. 6. If you don't hear back within a week, call again. 7. Document every interaction - who you talked to, when, and what they said. Stay on top of it and don't be afraid to be a squeaky wheel. Good luck!

For real tho. I swear dealing with this stuff is a full-time job in itself.

Quick question - how long have you been on STD already? There's usually a max time limit, so make sure you're still within that before you go through all the trouble of extending.

I've been on it for about 2 months now. I think the max is 6 months, but I'll double-check. Thanks for the heads up!

Hey OP, have you considered applying for long-term disability instead? Might be worth looking into if you think you'll need more time to recover.

Protip: If you cant get thru on the phone, try reaching out on social media. Sometimes their Twitter or Facebook team can help or at least escalate your case.

This! 👆 I got my issue resolved way faster by DMing them on Twitter than I ever did calling.

One thing that really helped me was checking my status online through the EDD portal. If you haven't already, try logging into your account and looking for any updates or messages about your extension request. Sometimes they'll post updates there before they call or send mail. Also, make sure you have your confirmation number from when you submitted the paperwork - that can help when you do get through to someone on the phone. The waiting game is awful but hang in there!
