Need help: How to check SDI extension status after provider submission?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to get confirmation on my disability extension request. I submitted it through my provider's online portal, but I haven't heard anything back. Has anyone else gone through this process? Any tips on how to check the status or get a quick response? I'm getting a bit anxious waiting for an update.

I've been there, buddy. The waiting game is the worst! Have you tried calling their customer service line? Sometimes that's the fastest way to get an update.

Thanks for the suggestion! I've been trying to call, but the hold times are insane. I'll keep at it though.

Pro tip: call right when they open. You might have better luck getting through!

Ugh, the disability extension process is such a headache. I swear they make it complicated on purpose 🙄 Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update the status there before sending any notifications.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

Yeah, it actually does! I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Totally worth the 20 bucks imho.

idk man, paying to get customer service seems kinda sketchy

I get where you're coming from, but when you factor in the time saved and stress avoided, it's a no-brainer for me. To each their own tho!

Here's what I've learned from my experience with disability extensions: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your submissions, calls, and interactions. 2. Follow up regularly. Don't assume no news is good news. 3. Be persistent but polite. The people on the other end are just doing their jobs. 4. Check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important emails end up there. 5. If possible, get your healthcare provider to follow up on their end too. 6. Know your rights. Familiarize yourself with the disability laws in your state. 7. Consider reaching out to your local government representative if you hit a wall. Hope this helps! Hang in there, the process can be frustrating but don't give up.

I feel your pain, OP. The system is so broken. I've been waiting on my extension for 3 months now. It's ridiculous how they expect people to survive while they take their sweet time. 😤

3 months?! That's insane. Have you tried contacting your local rep? Sometimes they can light a fire under these agencies.

Hey Jamal! I went through this exact same situation a few months ago. Here's what worked for me: Try logging into your EDD account online and look for a "Claim Status" or "Payment History" section - sometimes the extension status shows up there before you get any official notification. Also, if your provider submitted it electronically, there should be a confirmation number or reference ID that you can use when calling. I know the phone lines are brutal, but if you can get through, having that reference number makes the conversation go much smoother. Another thing - check if your provider's office can see the status on their end. Sometimes they have better access to the system than we do. Hang in there, the waiting is the absolute worst part but most extensions do get approved eventually!

This is super helpful, thank you! I didn't even think to check if my provider could see anything on their end. I'll give them a call tomorrow and ask about the reference number too. It's reassuring to hear that most extensions do get approved - the uncertainty is definitely the hardest part right now.

I'm going through something similar right now! One thing that helped me was creating a paper trail - I sent a follow-up email to my provider asking them to confirm they submitted my extension request and to provide any tracking/reference numbers they might have. That way I had documentation of the submission date and could reference specific details when I finally got through to EDD. Also, don't forget to check your mail! Sometimes they send paper notices that take a while to arrive, but at least you'll know something is moving. The whole process is so stressful when you're already dealing with health issues. Sending you good vibes that you hear back soon! 🤞
