SDI Extension: Submitted forms a month ago, no response. How to check approval status and payment timeline?

Hey everyone, I submitted all my forms for a disability extension about a month ago and haven't heard anything back. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to check if it's been approved and is processing? Also, any idea when I might expect to see a check if it has been approved? This waiting game is driving me crazy!

Ugh, I feel your pain! I was in the same boat a few months ago. It took them forever to get back to me. Have you tried calling their customer service line? It's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

I've tried calling so many times, but I always get stuck on hold forever. It's so frustrating! 😤

Pro tip: call right when they open. You might have better luck getting through.

Good idea! I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed šŸ¤ž

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I'm skeptical. $20 just to make a phone call? šŸ¤”

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho.

Can confirm, I used it last week and finally got my issue resolved. The time saved was worth way more than $20 to me.

Here's what I know about the disability extension process: • Once you submit your forms, it typically takes 2-4 weeks for processing • You can check your claim status online through the EDD website • If approved, payments usually start within 7-10 days • If you haven't heard anything after 4 weeks, definitely follow up Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

lol welcome to the wonderful world of government efficiency 🤔 I swear they use carrier pigeons to process these claims

Have you tried reaching out to your local assemblymember's office? Sometimes they can help expedite things or at least get you some answers.

I didn't even know that was an option! How do I find my assemblymember?

Just google '[your city] assemblymember' and you should find their contact info. Good luck!

PSA: Make sure you keep copies of EVERYTHING you submit. I learned that lesson the hard way when they claimed they never received my forms šŸ™„

Anyone else notice that the EDD website is always "under maintenance" when you actually need to use it? šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

Pro tip: Try accessing the site using incognito mode. Sometimes it's just a caching issue.

I heard they're super backed up because of all the fraud cases they're dealing with. Might explain the delay.

Have you checked your spam folder? Sometimes their emails end up there. Just a thought!

Good idea! Just checked and nothing there, but I'll keep an eye on it.

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Submitted my extension paperwork 5 weeks ago and radio silence. The anxiety is killing me because I really need those payments to cover my medical bills. I've tried the online portal but it just shows "pending" with no other details. Has anyone had luck with faxing a follow-up letter directly to their office? I'm wondering if that might get someone's attention faster than waiting on hold for hours.

I'm in a similar situation - submitted my extension 6 weeks ago and still waiting! The "pending" status is so frustrating because it tells you absolutely nothing. I haven't tried faxing yet, but that's actually a really good idea. Maybe having something in writing creates a paper trail they can't ignore? Let me know if you end up trying it and how it goes!
