How to check status of disability claim with EDD? Approved/denied? Need help!

Hey everyone, I'm trying to get an update on my disability claim. I've been waiting for what feels like forever and I'm not sure if it's been approved or denied. Does anyone know how I can find out the status? Also, I'm wondering if they might need any additional information to make a decision. This waiting game is driving me crazy!

Ugh, I feel you. I've been in the same boat. Have you tried calling them? It's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get a straight answer.

I've tried calling so many times, but I always get stuck on hold forever. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open. You might have better luck getting through.

Or try calling at the end of the day. Sometimes theres less traffic then.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

Yeah, it actually does! I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate. It saved me hours of hold time.

20 bucks tho? Thats kinda steep for just a phone call 🤔

I get it, but for me, it was worth it. Time is money, and I was wasting so much time on hold.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update the status there before they send out any notifications.

I've been dealing with this for months now. The system is so broken, it's ridiculous. I swear they make it complicated on purpose 🤬

Preach! 🙌 It's like they want us to give up.

Conspiracy theory: they're hoping we'll all just go back to work out of frustration lol

Here's what I've learned from my experience with disability claims: 1. Always keep copies of everything you submit. 2. Follow up regularly - at least once a week. 3. If you can, get your doctor to call on your behalf. Sometimes they have better luck getting through. 4. Check your online account daily for updates. 5. If you haven't heard anything in 30 days, consider contacting your local representative's office. They can sometimes expedite things. 6. Make sure you've submitted all required forms. Sometimes they need additional info but don't tell you. 7. If you get denied, appeal immediately. Many claims are approved on appeal. Hope this helps! Hang in there, OP. The process is a nightmare, but persistence pays off.

Hey OP, what state are you in? The process can vary a bit depending on location.

I'm in California. Does that make a difference?

Oh yeah, CA can be tough. Their EDD is notoriously slow. Might wanna check out r/CAUnemployment for more specific advice.
