DSS unreachable & EDD claim still pending after 3 weeks - Help!

Hey everyone, I'm trying to reach the Department of Social Services (DSS) but I'm having trouble getting through. Has anyone had any luck contacting them recently? Also, I filed an unemployment claim with EDD a while back and it's still showing as pending. Any advice on how to speed up the process or get in touch with someone who can help?

Ugh, DSS is a nightmare to get ahold of these days. I've been trying for weeks! As for EDD, how long has your claim been pending? Sometimes it can take a while, but if it's been more than a few weeks, you might want to try calling them directly.

It's been about 3 weeks now. I'm getting worried because I really need that money. 😓 Any tips on the best time to call EDD?

3 weeks is definitely long enough to follow up. Try calling first thing in the morning, like right when they open. That's when I had the most luck getting through.

I've heard ppl say calling at 3:55pm works too. Apparently less busy then 🤷‍♂️

I feel your pain, OP. The whole system is so broken rn. I've been trying to get through to DSS for my food stamps renewal and it's like hitting a brick wall. As for EDD, have you tried reaching out to your local assemblymember? Sometimes they can help speed things up.

Pro tip: I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? That's highway robbery! The government should make it easier to reach them without having to pay extra 😤

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho. And yeah, the system should be better, but until it is, this is a solid workaround.

Here's what worked for me with EDD: 1. Call exactly at 8:01 AM 2. If you get the "too many callers" message, hang up and redial immediately 3. Keep doing this until you get through to the hold music 4. Be prepared to wait on hold for 1-2 hours 5. Have all your info ready when you finally talk to someone It took me about 3 days of trying this method before I got through. Good luck!

I'm in the same boat with DSS. Been trying to update my address for weeks and can't get anyone on the phone. It's ridiculous how underfunded and understaffed these agencies are. We need to put pressure on our representatives to fix this mess!

Preach! 🙌 Maybe we should start a petition or something. This is getting out of hand.
