Stuck on hold with EDD for SDI application - need help ASAP!

Hey everyone, I'm trying to submit a disability application for someone else and I've been waiting forever to get through to EDD. It's so frustrating! Has anyone else had this problem? Any tips on how to speed up the process or get someone on the phone?

I found a way to solve EDD disability application delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGg1UtoMG8c

Ugh, I feel your pain! I've been trying to get through to EDD for weeks now. It's like they don't want us to actually talk to a real person. Have you tried calling right when they open? I've heard that can sometimes work.

Calling when they open is hit or miss. I've had better luck calling around 3pm, seems like less people are trying then.

I tried that opening time trick and still no luck 😭 feels like were playing the lottery just to get basic help

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll give both times a try and see if I have any luck. Fingers crossed 🤞

Have you checked if all the documents are in order? Sometimes they won't process the application if something's missing. Double-check everything before you keep calling, might save you some time.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Are you sure it's legit?

Wow, $20 just to talk to someone? The system is so broken 🤦‍♂️

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

How long did you have to wait after using the service?

It took about an hour, but I didn't have to do anything. Just got a call when they reached someone. Way better than being stuck on hold all day!

Here's what I've learned after dealing with EDD for months: 1. Be persistent. Call multiple times a day if you have to. 2. Have all your documents ready before you call. 3. Be polite but firm with the representatives. 4. Keep a log of all your calls and who you spoke to. 5. If possible, try to do as much as you can online. 6. Consider reaching out to your local assembly member for help. It's a frustrating process, but don't give up. You'll get through eventually!

This is gold 💯 Wish I had known all this when I started my claim!

Contacting your assembly member is underrated. They can sometimes work miracles with EDD!

Preach! 🙌 It's like they're trying to make it as difficult as possible

Totally agree. We need to push for reform. This isn't sustainable.

Quick question - are you applying for State Disability Insurance (SDI) or something else? The process can be different depending on what type of claim you're filing.

It's for SDI. Does that change anything about the application process?

For SDI, make sure you have the medical certification from a doctor. That's often the holdup. Also, the online system for SDI is actually pretty decent if you haven't tried it yet.

Pro tip: if u get someone on the phone, ask for their direct extension or if theres a way to schedule a callback. sometimes they can do that and it saves so much time
