I've been trying to find a direct EDD phone number for San Diego but everything just redirects to the main (800) 300-5616 line. Spent 6 hours yesterday calling that number with zero success - keeps saying they're too busy. Does anyone know if there's still a local San Diego EDD office I can call directly? I'm dealing with a pending claim issue and really need to speak with someone who can access my account.
I need to certify for benefits but can't get through on the EDD phone number to certify. Been trying for 3 weeks straight calling (800) 300-5616 but keep getting the busy message. My certification deadline is coming up fast and I'm worried about missing it. Has anyone successfully reached someone to help with certification over the phone? The online system won't let me certify because of some issue with my claim.
For anyone still struggling: certification deadlines are serious. If you miss it your benefits can be delayed for weeks. Don't risk it if manual calling isn't working - find an alternative solution.
Then honestly consider Claimyr or keep trying with the lunch break timing strategy. Missing certification is worse than the calling hassle.
Final success story: took me 8 days of calling 4-6 hours per day. Finally connected Thursday at 11:47am, waited 2.5 hours on hold, but got through and certified. Persistence does work but it's absolutely brutal.
Basically, yes. Had to treat it like a job. Set alarms, took breaks, kept detailed notes of when I called.
I don't think I can dedicate 8 days to this. Might have to look into that Claimyr option everyone's mentioning.
I've been following all the Reddit advice about reaching a live person at EDD and nothing is working. Tried the 800-300-5616 number with the 1-wait-1-1-*** pattern about 60 times yesterday. Keep getting the 'too busy' message or when I do get through to hold, the call drops after an hour. Has anyone actually gotten through to a live person recently? All the Reddit posts seem outdated or fake. I need to talk to someone about my claim that's been pending for 3 weeks.
Update on Claimyr for skeptics: used it again last week for my wife's claim. 15 minute callback time. It's become our go-to solution.
Alright, you've all convinced me. Going to try Claimyr tomorrow instead of burning another day manual calling.
Final reality: this Reddit thread has more useful EDD calling info than 90% of the posts in r/unemployment. Save your time and bookmark this.
I keep seeing people mention an EDD San Diego phone number but when I call what I think is the local office I just get transferred to the main line anyway. Is there actually a dedicated San Diego EDD phone number that bypasses the usual 2+ hour hold times? I've been trying to reach someone for 3 weeks about my claim status and getting nowhere with the regular 800-300-5616 number. Live in Chula Vista and wondering if there's a regional office I should be calling instead.
My unlimited plan doesn't cover excessive calling so I'm getting charged extra for all these EDD attempts. This is costing me money just to try to reach them!
Reality check: I've called over 500 times in the past month. Got on hold 4 times, spoke to an agent exactly once (for 3 minutes before they had to transfer me and the call dropped). The system is fundamentally broken.
I don't. This has become my full-time job. Considering using one of those calling services just to get my life back.
Do it. I used Claimyr last week and actually got my issue resolved. First time talking to EDD in 2 months.
I've been trying to reach EDD customer service edd representatives all day and their phone system is absolutely useless. Started calling at 8am sharp, it's now 2pm and I've made probably 200+ attempts. Every single time I get through the menu (1-wait-1-1-***) it just says 'too busy' and hangs up. Not even getting to hold anymore. My claim has been pending for 3 weeks and I desperately need to speak with someone about missing documentation they supposedly need. Has anyone actually gotten through to EDD customer service edd agents recently or is this system just completely dead?
Morning strategy: Start calling at 7:55am (5 min before they open). Use redial app if your phone has one. Press the menu sequence before prompts finish to save 30 seconds per attempt. Still takes 50+ tries on good days.
Reality check: EDD customer service edd has about 1,000 agents handling 100,000+ daily call attempts. The math just doesn't work. Either get lucky, be extremely persistent, or use a service that automates the process.

PSA: If you're tracking your calls like I am, the success rate seems to be about 1 in 73 attempts to even get on hold, then about 50/50 whether the call stays connected. So you need roughly 146 calls to actually talk to someone.

It's brutal math. That's why I finally gave up and paid for help - the time investment just wasn't sustainable.

This is exactly why services like Claimyr exist. Sometimes you have to admit the system is too broken to handle manually.

For what it's worth, I finally got through after 4 days of calling from San Diego. Key was calling at exactly 8:00am, not 7:55 or 8:05. Something about that exact timing seemed to work better.

I tried that too but 8:00 sharp worked better for me. Maybe their system resets right at opening time?

I'll try this tomorrow. At this point I'm willing to try any timing theory that might work.
