EDD phone number isn't working - keeps saying too busy to take calls

I've been trying to call the EDD phone number (800-300-5616) for three days straight and I keep getting the same recording that they're too busy to take my call. I'm following the menu exactly - press 1 for English, wait, then 1-1-***. But I never even get put on hold! Just the busy message every single time. Has anyone actually gotten through recently? I need to update my address and it's been impossible to do online.

I made this mistake too! Kept trying Sunday nights thinking maybe they had weekend hours.

At least you figured it out. I'm still struggling to get through during actual business hours!

EDD support line keeps hanging up after I wait 2+ hours - anyone else?

I've been trying the EDD support line for over a week now and I'm losing my mind. Every single time I finally get through the menu (1-wait-1-1-***) and get placed on hold, I wait anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5 hours and then the call just drops. No warning, no transfer, just dead silence. This has happened 6 times now and I'm starting to think their phone system is broken. Has anyone else experienced the EDD support line dropping calls like this? I can't keep taking entire days off work just to sit on hold for nothing.

The most frustrating part is that there's no acknowledgment from EDD that their phone system is broken. They act like it's normal for people to spend entire days trying to reach them.

Exactly! Some transparency about the technical issues would go a long way. At least let us know they're working on fixing the dropped calls.

That would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath. Seems like they've just accepted this as the new normal.

Final thought: if you're employed and trying to call during work hours, the math really doesn't work out. Missing work to maybe get through to EDD (if your call doesn't drop) just isn't sustainable long-term.

This is why I ended up using Claimyr. I couldn't keep taking time off work for a phone call that might not even work. Now I just get a callback when they reach someone.

That's a really good point about the work situation. I've been lucky my boss is understanding but that won't last forever.

EDD phone number Los Angeles - been calling for 2 weeks straight can't get through

I'm in LA and have been calling the EDD phone number nonstop for 2 weeks trying to get my claim sorted out. I've tried both 800-300-5616 and 833-978-7753 but they're the same line apparently. Started with maybe 30-40 calls a day but now I'm up to 80+ attempts daily. I follow the 1-wait-1-1-*** pattern but keep getting that awful 'too busy' message. Is there a specific EDD phone number for Los Angeles or do we all call the same statewide number? Getting desperate here.

I'm in Pasadena and had the same exact experience. Location doesn't matter, we're all calling the same overwhelmed phone system.

Good to know it's not just me. Misery loves company I guess.

At least we're all in this together. The whole system needs an overhaul but that's not happening anytime soon.

Word of advice - don't call on your lunch break expecting to get through. You'll just waste your lunch and still be hungry and frustrated.

Too late, I've already done that multiple times. Just ends up ruining the whole afternoon.

Same here. Now I pack my lunch and eat while making calls from home. At least I don't go hungry.
