I've been trying to speak to representative at EDD for 2 weeks straight and I'm at my breaking point. Called the 800-300-5616 number probably 200+ times, tried the 1-wait-1-1-*** pattern everyone talks about, called right at 8am, avoided lunch hours - nothing works. I either get the 'too busy' message or when I miraculously get on hold after 45 attempts, the call drops after 90 minutes. My claim has been pending for a month and I desperately need to speak to representative about missing wages. Has anyone actually gotten through recently? What am I doing wrong?
I've been trying to get my EDD contact information updated for 3 weeks now. Every time I call the main number I either get busy signals or sit on hold for hours just to get disconnected. My address changed and I can't receive any mail from them. Has anyone actually managed to reach a live person recently? I'm starting to panic because I think I'm missing important correspondence.
I've called every day this week starting at 8am sharp and haven't even gotten a busy signal - just the 'too busy' message every single time. This is ridiculous.
This is why that Claimyr service makes sense. They have better success rates than we do manually.
Final update: Used Claimyr this afternoon and got my contact info updated. Total time from ordering the callback to finishing with the agent was 28 minutes. Definitely recommend if you're tired of the manual calling nightmare.
I desperately need the EDD phone number to talk to a person about my claim. I've been calling what I think is the right number but keep getting automated messages or busy signals. Does anyone have the actual direct number where I can reach a real human being? My benefits got stopped and I need to speak with someone urgently.
The most important thing about calling the EDD phone number to talk to a person: you have to treat it like a part-time job. Block out 4-6 hours minimum and just keep dialing. It's not a quick process.
4-6 hours?! I don't have that kind of time with my work schedule. This is why I might need to look into alternatives.
That's exactly why services like Claimyr exist. They do the time-consuming part so you don't have to sit there all day redialing.
Don't fall for any 'secret numbers' or 'backdoor methods' you see online. I wasted days trying supposed insider tricks. The main EDD phone number to talk to a person is really your only legitimate option.
I keep seeing people mention calling different EDD phone numbers for Orange County specifically. Is there actually a separate EDD phone number for Orange County residents, or do we all call the same statewide number? I've been trying to reach someone about my claim and wondering if there's a local office number that might be easier to get through to. Been calling the main 800 number for days with no luck.
Been tracking my calling attempts from Yorba Linda in a spreadsheet. 847 total calls over 3 weeks, got on hold 4 times, 3 calls dropped, spoke to 1 agent. That's a 0.12% success rate for manual calling.
Your dedication is impressive but that's exactly why I switched to claimyr.com after my first week of failed attempts. Life's too short.
Monday mornings and Friday afternoons are the absolute worst times to call. Mondays everyone's calling about weekend issues, Fridays people are rushing before the weekend. Stick to Tuesday-Thursday for best odds.
I've been trying to reach EDD in Spanish for my mom who doesn't speak English well. We've called the main number dozens of times and when we finally get through the menu (pressing 2 for Spanish), we either get disconnected or put on hold for hours. Does anyone know the best way to get Spanish-speaking agents? My mom's claim has been pending for weeks and she's getting desperate. We've tried calling at different times but keep hitting the same wall.
Final update: After all this advice, I got through manually on attempt #89 this morning at 8:12am. Spanish agent was very helpful and resolved my mom's issue in 20 minutes. Sometimes persistence pays off, but honestly considering all the time invested, a callback service would have been smarter.
The math on this is crazy. If each attempt takes 2 minutes, that's 3 hours just dialing, not counting hold time.
Exactly. Next time I'm definitely using Claimyr or similar. My time is worth more than the cost.
One more tip for Spanish speakers: if you do get through, have all your documents ready in advance. The agents are professional but they move quickly and you don't want to waste the call looking for paperwork.

Third time using Claimyr and still impressed. 22 minutes to speak to representative today. My manual calling days are officially over.

Same here. If it saves even one full day of redialing, it's worth whatever they charge.

Smart investment. Time is money, especially when you're unemployed and need benefits processed quickly.

Week 4 update: Still haven't spoken to representative despite calling every single day. This system is completely broken and needs a complete overhaul.

Have you considered the automated calling services? Manual attempts clearly aren't working for you.

Yeah, looking into Claimyr now. This manual approach is destroying my mental health and getting nowhere.
