PFL claim stuck - Can't reach anyone after a month of calling hundreds of times daily. Help!

I've been trying to get through to the paid family leave office for over a month now. I'm making hundreds of calls a day and still can't get through to anyone. It's driving me crazy! Has anyone else had this problem or found a way to actually speak to a human being there?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I was in the same boat last year. It's like they're purposely making it impossible to reach them. 🤬 Have you tried calling right when they open? That sometimes worked for me.

Yeah, I've tried that. No luck. It's always busy or I get disconnected. This is so frustrating!

Pro tip: try calling at 3:55 PM. For some reason, that's when I finally got through after weeks of trying.

Really? I'll give that a shot. Thanks for the tip!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site called claimyr.com. It's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to your phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

Is this legit? Seems kinda sketchy to pay for something like that.

I get the skepticism, but it really did work for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho.

Can confirm, I used it too. Felt silly paying at first but man, the relief of finally talking to someone was worth it.

The whole system is broken. They probably don't have enough staff to handle all the calls. It's a joke that we pay into this system and can't even use it when we need it. 😤

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things through or at least get you in touch with someone.

I hadn't thought of that. How would I go about contacting them?

Just google your district and 'state representative'. Most have contact forms on their websites. Explain your situation and they might be able to help!

Here's what worked for me after 2 months of trying: 1. Call exactly at 8:00:00 AM when they open 2. If you get a busy signal, hang up and immediately redial 3. Keep doing this until you get into the queue 4. Once in the queue, DO NOT HANG UP no matter how long it takes 5. Have all your info ready when you finally get through It took me about 30 tries one morning, but I finally got through. Good luck!

This is solid advice. persistence is key with these government agencies.

I know it sounds crazy, but it's better than calling for weeks with no success!

Guys, I work in a call center (not for PFL). The real tea is that most of these places are SEVERELY understaffed. Like, imagine 100 calls coming in every minute and only 10 people to answer them. It's not that they don't want to help, there's just not enough people. The system is totally borked.

That makes sense, but it doesn't make it any less frustrating for us who need help 😞

Oh for sure, I totally get it. Just wanted to give some insider perspective. The whole system needs an overhaul.

Have you tried their online portal? Sometimes you can submit questions or requests there without having to call.

Yeah, I've tried that too. No response after 3 weeks. It's like shouting into the void.

This might sound crazy, but have you tried faxing them? I know it's 2023, but some of these government offices still operate like it's 1995. Worth a shot if you're desperate!

I'm going through the exact same nightmare right now! Been calling for 3 weeks straight with no luck. The system is completely broken. I've tried calling at different times, using the online portal, even tried that redial trick someone mentioned. Nothing works. It's insane that we pay into this system and then can't access it when we actually need it. Has anyone had any success with emailing specific departments or supervisors? I'm willing to try anything at this point!
