PFL application submitted in April, no response - EDD delay advice needed
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my PFL application. I submitted it back in April and haven't heard a peep since. It's been months and I'm starting to get worried. Has anyone else experienced this kind of delay? I'm not sure if I should be doing something or just keep waiting. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Ugh, I feel your pain. The PFL system is a total mess right now. I waited for like 3 months before I heard anything back. Have you tried calling them? It's a nightmare, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

I've been trying to call but can never get through. It's so frustrating! How did you manage to reach someone?

It took me like 50 tries, no joke. I just kept redialing over and over. Maybe try calling right when they open?

Have you tried calling during off-peak hours? Sometimes the call volumes are lower right before they close.

Listen up, folks. The EDD is playing games with us. They're probably sitting on a pile of applications, laughing at our misery. We need to band together and demand better service! Who's with me? 🤬

Chill out, dude. They're probably just understaffed and overworked. No need for conspiracy theories.

While it may seem this way, many government agencies have faced increased demand and limited resources recently.

Have you considered hiring a lawyer? I know it seems extreme, but sometimes having legal representation can light a fire under their butts.

That's a bold step, but could be a last resort if nothing else works.

I had a similar issue last year. Here's what worked for me: 1. Double-check your online account to make sure all docs are uploaded 2. Send a follow-up email through their portal 3. If possible, visit a local office in person 4. Keep calling (I know, it sucks) Hang in there! The system is slow, but it does work eventually.

Visiting a local office in person was a game-changer for me. They were way more helpful face-to-face.

Has anyone tried faxing their documents? I know it sounds ancient, but I heard it can sometimes get faster results. Just a thought!

Faxing? What year is it, 1995? 😂

Hey, don't knock it till you've tried it! Sometimes old school methods work best with old school systems 🤷♀️

I've heard that faxing is still used in some cases, as it can bypass digital queues.

To address your concern, delays with Paid Family Leave (PFL) applications can indeed occur, often due to several factors, such as high application volumes, incomplete documentation, or internal processing delays. It's crucial to ensure that all required documents and information are submitted correctly to avoid further delays. While calling the EDD directly is an option, it can be challenging due to high call volumes. Tools like Claimyr can be a viable alternative, as they handle the waiting process for you, which can be particularly useful if your time is limited. However, it's important to weigh the cost against the potential benefit, as there should ideally be no need to pay for customer service. Remember that persistence is key, and utilizing multiple strategies, such as visiting a local office or contacting your local representative, can also aid in expediting the process. Remaining patient and proactive is essential, as the PFL system, despite its flaws, eventually processes applications. Good luck, and hang in there!

I've been dealing with PFL issues for months now. It's like trying to nail jello to a wall. Every time I think I'm making progress, something else comes up. Hang in there, OP. We're all in this leaky boat together. 🚣♀️

Yo, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Wait, what? $20 just to talk to someone? That sounds like a scam. Has anyone else tried this?

I get the skepticism, but it's legit. It basically automates the hold process. You pay, they call and wait on hold, then transfer to you when a real person picks up. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

I've used Claimyr too, and it worked for me. Though I agree, it's frustrating to pay for customer service.

It's helpful but perhaps not a permanent solution. The system shouldn't require third-party tools to function effectively.

Guys, I think I figured it out. You need to sacrifice a goat under a full moon while chanting 'EDD' backwards. Works every time, 60% of the time. 🐐🌕

Hey OP, don't lose hope! I was in the same boat last year. It took forever, but I finally got my PFL approved. Here's a detailed breakdown of what I did: 1. Documentation: Make sure you have ALL your paperwork in order. Double and triple-check everything. 2. Persistent Calling: I know it's a pain, but keep calling. I found that calling early in the morning (right when they open) or late afternoon had better results. 3. Online Account: Check your online account daily for any updates or requests for additional info. 4. Reach Out to Local Rep: I contacted my local assembly member's office. They have liaisons who can sometimes help speed things up. 5. Keep a Log: Document every interaction, including dates, times, and names of people you speak with. 6. Be Patient: I know it's tough, but sometimes it just takes time. My application took about 10 weeks to process. Hang in there! The system is frustrating, but it does work eventually. Good luck! 💪

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone! I'll def try calling again and double-check my spam folder. @profile 4, that service sounds interesting, might give it a shot if I keep striking out.
