How to delete first PFL application after submitting two?

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle. I submitted two PFL applications because I needed to change the date on my initial one. Now I'm trying to figure out how to delete the first application. Has anyone dealt with this before? Any advice on how to handle it when I talk to them?

Ugh, been there done that. The system is so frustrating! I had to call them directly to get it sorted out. Be prepared to wait on hold for ages tho 🙄

fr fr the hold times are insane. I swear they do it on purpose to make us give up 🤡

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through in like 15 mins last time!

ooh good idea! gonna try that next time for sure 👍

Here's what you need to do when you get someone on the phone: 1. Explain that you submitted two applications because you needed to change the date. 2. Ask them to delete the first application for you. 3. Make sure they confirm that your second application is active and being processed. 4. Don't forget to ask about the timeline for approval on the second one! Hope this helps! Let us know how it goes.

This is super helpful, thank you so much! I'll definitely use this as a guide when I call.

Great advice! I'd add: get the name of who you talk to and ask for a reference number for the call. CYA always!

Have you guys tried calling right at 8am? Sometimes that works for me.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. How does it actually work?

It's legit! You just put in your phone number, and they call you when they get an agent. Saved me hours of hold time.

$20 seems steep just to make a phone call...

I get that, but think about how much your time is worth. For me, not sitting on hold for 3 hours was totally worth it.

Anyone else feel like the whole system is designed to make us give up? 🤔 It's like they're playing 4D chess and we're stuck with checkers

Quick question - did you try looking for an option to edit or cancel the first application online? Sometimes they hide those features in weird places on the website.

I looked everywhere on the site but couldn't find anything like that. Seems like calling is the only option 😕

Protip: If you cant get through on the main line, try calling some of the other departments and ask to be transferred. Sometimes works for me!

Ooh sneaky! I like it 😈

Just went through this exact same situation last month! What worked for me was calling the PFL line and explaining that I accidentally submitted a duplicate application. The rep was actually pretty understanding about it - apparently it happens more often than you'd think. She was able to cancel the first one on the spot and confirmed my second application was processing normally. Definitely mention that you needed to change the date, that's a valid reason for the duplicate. Good luck! 🤞

This is so reassuring to hear! I was worried they'd be annoyed about the duplicate, but it sounds like they're used to it. Thanks for sharing your experience - gives me hope that this will be easier than I thought! 😊

That's exactly what I needed to hear! I was stressing about how to explain it without sounding like I messed up. Knowing that it's common and the reps are understanding makes me feel so much better about making the call. Thanks for the reassurance! 🙏

Thanks for sharing this! How long did you have to wait on hold to get through to someone? I'm trying to plan when to call so I don't waste my whole day waiting 😅
