EDD PFL: 3 weeks waiting for medical document review - normal or lost paperwork?
Has anyone else been waiting forever to hear back about their medical documents? I called EDD like 3 weeks ago to check if they got my stuff, and the person I talked to said they just sent it to the right team. They told me to call back in 2 weeks to see what's up with my claim. I'm getting worried cause I haven't heard anything yet. Anyone know how long this usually takes? I'm starting to feel like my paperwork got lost in the shuffle or something.

Honestly, just persistence. I called every week, kept detailed records, and eventually got lucky with a really helpful agent. Hang in there!

Here's what I've learned from my experience with EDD and medical documents: 1. Always keep copies of EVERYTHING you send them. 2. Follow up every 2 weeks, without fail. Be the squeaky wheel. 3. If possible, fax your documents instead of mailing them. It's faster and you get a confirmation. 4. Keep a log of every call you make, including the name of the person you spoke to. 5. If you're not getting anywhere, reach out to your local state representative. They can sometimes expedite things. Remember, persistence is key. Don't let them forget about you!

Wow, thanks for the detailed advice! I'll definitely start keeping better records. Do you think I should fax my docs again even tho they said they got them?

It couldn't hurt to fax them again. Just make sure to include a cover sheet explaining that this is a duplicate submission due to lack of response. Better safe than sorry!

Great suggestions! I’d add that you might want to verify the fax number beforehand, just in case there are specific numbers for different departments.

It’s nice to hear some encouragement. Let’s stay hopeful and proactive. Who knows, maybe a complaint sent to the right person could trigger a quicker response.

This is why we need to overhaul the entire unemployment system. It's not fit for purpose anymore. Anyone know if there's any legislation in the works to fix this mess?

Fat chance. Politicians only care when it affects them directly. We're on our own here.

Actually, I heard there's a bill being proposed to modernize the EDD systems. Don't know the details tho.

Interesting. It would be great if someone could dig up more info on this bill and share how we can support it.

Plot twist: EDD is actually run by a bunch of sloths. That's why everything takes forever. 🦥😂

lmao why are we even surprised anymore? EDD is a joke. They probably used your medical docs as confetti at their office party 🎉🤡

It's funny but also sad. The EDD really needs a major overhaul. Until then, we’re stuck in this loop.

Welcome to EDD hell, my friend. I've been in the same boat for months now. It's like they have a black hole where all our documents disappear into. 🕳️

Totally agree! EDD processes can seem endless and with such slow feedback, it's a common frustration. Has anyone found any secret hacks to expedite this process?

have you tried calling at exactly 8:01 am? I heard thats when the lines open and you have the best chance of getting through

I'll give that a shot! Do you know if its 8:01 local time or pacific time?

Timing your calls can make a huge difference. Has anyone tried calling right before closing to see if they have less traffic then, too?

Am I the only one who's had a decent experience with EDD? Got my docs processed in 2 weeks. Maybe I just got lucky? 🤷♂️

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone without waiting forever. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://claimyr.com

$20 just to talk to someone? That's highway robbery! 😡

Sounds sketchy. How do you know its legit?

I get the skepticism, but honestly, after spending hours trying to get through, $20 was worth it to me. It's legit - they just do the waiting for you. Saved me a ton of stress.

While Claimyr sounds beneficial for those who can afford it, it would be good for them to offer a trial version for first-time users. What's the feedback from other users?

Pro tip: If you can, try to get your doctor's office to fax the documents directly to EDD. Sometimes that speeds things up.

Freya Thomsen
I've had luck with this method before. It's like having an extra layer of validation because it's coming from the doctor's office.

With all these delays, it's clear the system is overburdened. But maybe try contacting the ombudsman or escalate the issue if it’s been months.

You can usually find your state rep by doing a quick search online with your zip code. Many state websites have a 'find my representative' feature.
