EDD claim filed 6 weeks ago, submitted missing docs 2 weeks ago, still no update. How long does processing usually take?
I filed my unemployment claim 6 weeks ago and I'm still waiting for an update. I've only spoken to a representative once, who said I had missing documents. I submitted the required documents online and in person 2 weeks ago, but I haven't heard anything back. Has anyone else experienced this? How long does it usually take for EDD to process claims and documents? I'm getting worried because I really need this payment.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been dealing with EDD for months now. It's like they're purposely making it difficult for us to get our benefits. Have you tried calling them again? Sometimes you gotta be persistent to get any answers.

I've tried calling multiple times, but I can never get through. It's so frustrating! How did you manage to reach them?

Honestly, it took me like 50 attempts over several days. I just kept redialing whenever I got disconnected. It's a total nightmare, but sometimes you get lucky and actually reach a human being.

Pro tip: try calling right when they open in the morning. I've had better luck getting through that way. Good luck! š

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this service? Is it legit?

I was skeptical at first too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration trying to get through on my own.

Here's what I've learned from my experience with EDD: ā¢ Processing times can vary wildly, from a few weeks to several months ā¢ Missing documents can significantly delay your claim ā¢ Always keep copies of everything you submit ā¢ If possible, submit documents online AND by mail for redundancy ā¢ Check your EDD account online regularly for updates ā¢ Be prepared to appeal if your claim is denied Hang in there, OP. The system is overwhelmed, but persistence usually pays off in the end.

Thank you so much for this detailed info! I'll definitely keep all of this in mind. Do you know if there's a way to check if they've received my documents?

You're welcome! Unfortunately, there's no easy way to confirm if they've received your docs. Your best bet is to keep checking your online account or try to speak with a rep directly. It's not ideal, I know. š

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They sometimes have direct lines to EDD and can help push your claim through faster.

I hadn't even thought of that! How do I find my assembly member?

Just google '[your city] assembly member' and you should find their contact info. Most have forms on their websites specifically for EDD issues. Good luck!

Unpopular opinion: maybe try looking for work instead of waiting for a handout? š¤·āāļø

Dude, not cool. You don't know OP's situation. Unemployment benefits are there for a reason, and people have a right to claim them when they qualify.

PSA: If you're having trouble with your claim, document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every online submission. It might come in handy if you need to appeal or prove you've been trying to resolve issues.
