EDD claim stuck for 6 weeks after submitting missing docs - no updates. Help?

I filed my unemployment claim 6 weeks ago and only spoke with a representative once. They said I had missing documents, so I submitted them online and in person 2 weeks ago. I haven't received any updates on my claim status since then. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to get an update or speed up the process?

Ugh, I'm in the same boat. It's been 8 weeks for me and still nothing. The EDD system is so broken, it's ridiculous. 🤦‍♂️

8 weeks? That's rough. Have you tried calling them every day? I heard that's the only way to get through.

Yeah, I've been calling non-stop. It's like playing the lottery, except the prize is just talking to a human being lol

Calling every day is exhausting. I gave up after two weeks of trying. There's gotta be a better way!

Here's what worked for me: 1. Gather all your submission receipts and confirmation numbers. 2. Call first thing in the morning (like 7:59 AM). 3. Be polite but firm with the rep. 4. Ask them to verify all documents are in your file. 5. Request a specific timeline for next steps. 6. Get the rep's name and a reference number for the call. It took me a few tries, but I finally got through and had my claim processed. Good luck!

Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try calling early tomorrow morning. Did you have to wait on hold for a long time?

I waited about an hour, but it was worth it. Just put your phone on speaker and do something else while you wait. Stay strong!

Pro tip: I found a way to get someone on the phone without the endless waiting. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this service?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's highway robbery! 😤

I get the skepticism, but after spending hours trying to get through, $20 was worth it to me. It actually worked and saved me so much time and frustration.

How long did you have to wait after using the service?

It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to actively wait by the phone. They called me when an agent was on the line. Way better than constantly redialing!

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They can sometimes help expedite claims.

This is why we need to overhaul the entire unemployment system. It's a joke that people have to jump through so many hoops just to get the benefits they're entitled to. 😡

Preach! 🙌 The system is designed to be frustrating so people give up. We need to demand better from our government.

Idk, I think they're doing their best with limited resources. Have you seen how many claims they're dealing with?

Limited resources? Please. They had years to upgrade their systems and didn't. No excuses!

Quick question - did you get any kind of confirmation when you submitted the documents online? Sometimes their system glitches and doesn't actually receive uploads.

I did get a confirmation number for the online submission, but nothing for the in-person drop-off. Should I be worried?

Nah, you should be good with the online confirmation. In-person rarely gives receipts. Just make sure to mention both when you call!
