CA PFL claim pending since 2/27 - How to speed up EDD process?

Hey everyone, I'm dealing with a Paid Family Leave issue in California and it's been pending since February 27th. It's now April and I'm still waiting. Has anyone else experienced such a long wait time? Any advice on how to speed up the process or what I should do next? I'm getting really frustrated with the lack of progress.

Ugh, I feel your pain! I've been waiting since January for my PFL claim to be processed. It's ridiculous how long they're taking. Have you tried calling them? I've heard some people have had luck getting through and getting answers.

I've tried calling so many times, but I can never get through. It's always busy or I'm on hold forever. 😫 How do people actually manage to talk to someone?

Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. I got through after only 20 minutes on hold that way!

lol good luck with that. i've been trying for weeks and still haven't gotten a human on the line 🤡

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? Is it legit?

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Got through to an agent in about 2 hours without having to sit on hold myself. Worth every penny imo

Here's what I've learned from my experience with California PFL: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and any correspondence. 2. Be persistent. Call regularly and ask for updates. 3. Contact your local state representative. Sometimes they can help expedite things. 4. Check your online account for any pending tasks or required documents. 5. If possible, submit any additional info or docs even if not requested. It might help move things along. Hang in there! The system is overwhelmed, but they'll get to your claim eventually.

Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely start keeping better records and try contacting my rep. Really appreciate it! 🙏

This is gold! 👌 Saving this for future reference. The EDD system is such a mess, we need all the help we can get.

have u checked ur spam folder? sometimes important emails from edd end up there. also make sure ur contact info is up to date in the system

I'm in the same boat, friend. Been waiting since early March. It's like they're playing baseball with our claims and we all struck out 😩

More like they're playing hide and seek with our money and we're always 'it' 🙄

LOL too true. Maybe we should start a support group for people stuck in EDD limbo 😂

Just a heads up, I heard they're implementing a new system soon that's supposed to speed things up. Might be worth holding out a bit longer before going nuclear with complaints.

Source? I haven't seen anything about this

I saw it mentioned in a news article last week. I'll try to find the link and post it here.

unpopular opinion: maybe we should all just be grateful we have PFL at all? lots of states don't even offer it. yeah the wait sucks but at least we'll get paid eventually

Easy to say when you're not the one struggling to pay bills while waiting for benefits you're entitled to 🙄

Fair point. I didn't mean to sound insensitive. The system definitely needs improvement.

Has anyone tried faxing their documents instead of uploading online? I've heard it can sometimes be faster.

What year is it, 1995? 😂 But seriously, if it works, I'm willing to try anything at this point.

guys i think i figured it out. u need to sacrafice a goat under a full moon while chanting 'edd please process my claim' three times. works like a charm 🐐🌕

Instructions unclear, accidentally summoned a demon who now works for EDD customer service 😈
