Here's a comprehensive guide for your Paid Family Leave follow-up call: ⢠Have your claim number ready ⢠Know your last day worked and first day of leave ⢠Have your expected return-to-work date on hand ⢠Keep your doctor's contact information nearby ⢠Be prepared to explain any changes in your situation ⢠Have a pen and paper ready to take notes ⢠Stay calm and polite, even if the process is frustrating ⢠Ask for a reference number or confirmation of the call ⢠If possible, try to get the name of the representative you speak with Remember, these calls can take a while, so make sure you're in a quiet place with good phone reception. Good luck!
Wow, this is super helpful! Thanks for taking the time to write all this out. I feel way more prepared now š
Solid advice right here š Wish I had this list when I made my call!
Anyone know if theres a way to check the status of ur claim online? Seems like that would save everyone a lot of time and headaches
There is! Go to the EDD website and look for the 'Customer Account' section. You can check your claim status there.
Oh sweet, thanks! Cant believe I missed that š¤¦āāļø
Have you checked if there were any changes to the PFL program recently? Sometimes they update rules and it messes up ongoing claims.
guys. i literaly just got off the phone with PFL. they said there's a huge backlog due to a system upgrade. might explain the delays everyone's experiencing
Quick question - when you say you used a different email, did you actually create a whole new account? Or just try to log in with a different email? Cuz if it's the latter, you might just need to remember your original email.
Oh man, now you've got me thinking. I'm pretty sure I used a different email to create a new account, but maybe I'm misremembering? I'll have to double check. Thanks for bringing that up!
Have you checked their website? Sometimes they have forms for extension requests that you can submit online. Might be worth a shot!
unpopular opinion: maybe we should all just show up at their office enmasse. bet theyd fix the system real quick if they had to deal with us face to face š¤
Lol imagine the chaos š But for real, that might actually work...

Have you tried reaching out on social media? Sometimes tweeting at them or messaging on FB can get a response.

idk if this helps, but I had a similar issue and it turned out they needed some additional medical info from my doctor. Might be worth checking if there's any paperwork they're waiting on?
