SDI claim issue: Can't change address (grayed out) & wrong home number on file - Help!

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my SDI claim. I'm trying to file a new one, but I can't change my mailing address or residence address because it's grayed out. Has anyone else run into this issue? Also, there's a problem with my home number on the claim. It's showing an incorrect number that I can't seem to remove. Any advice on how to fix these issues?

Ugh, the EDD system is such a pain! I had a similar issue with my address being grayed out. Have you tried calling them directly? It took me forever to get through, but they were able to update it on their end.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've been trying to call, but it's impossible to get through. Any tips on the best time to call?

I had luck calling right when they opened at 8 AM. Set an alarm and start dialing at 7:59! Good luck 🍀

lol good luck with that. i've been trying for weeks and still can't get through 🤡

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I'm skeptical. Why should we have to pay to talk to a government agency? 🤔

I get the skepticism, but it honestly saved me so much time and frustration. I was able to fix my claim issues in one call. For me, it was worth the $20 to avoid hours of redial hell.

Can you give more details about how it works? Do they guarantee you'll get through?

Sure! You choose the department you need to reach on their website, pay the fee, and they start calling right away. They use some kind of auto-dialer to navigate the phone tree and wait on hold. When a real person picks up, you get a call on your phone. They don't guarantee you'll get through, but they keep trying until they do or until the office closes.

Have you tried updating your info through the online portal? Sometimes it works better than the phone system.

I'm in the same boat with the address issue. Been trying to fix it for weeks. The whole system is broken af 😤

ikr? its like they dont want us to get our benefits 🙄

Here's what worked for me with the grayed-out address issue: 1. Clear your browser cache and cookies 2. Try using a different browser (I had success with Firefox) 3. If that doesn't work, try accessing the site during off-peak hours (like early morning or late evening) 4. As a last resort, you might need to create a new account and link it to your existing claim For the phone number problem, you'll probably need to speak with a rep directly. Keep calling and stay persistent! Hope this helps, and good luck!

anyone else feel like we need a support group for dealing with EDD? 😅 this stuff is more stressful than being unemployed!

LOL for real tho. EDD Survivors Anonymous, where do I sign up? 🤣

Sign me up! We can all share our war stories of battling the EDD phone system 😂

Pro tip: if you cant get through on the main line, try calling some of the other departments and ask to be transferred. Sometimes works like a charm!

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They can sometimes help expedite EDD issues.

I hadn't thought of that. How do I find my assembly member?

0 coins

Just google 'find my california assembly member' and enter your address. Their office should have a contact form or phone number. They deal with EDD issues all the time!

ugh im so tired of EDD's broken website. why cant they just hire some decent programers and fix this mess???

0 coins

Probably because all the good programmers are making bank in Silicon Valley instead of working for the government 🤷‍♂️

I'm dealing with the exact same address issue! It's so frustrating. I found that sometimes if you log out completely, clear your browser data, and then log back in during off-peak hours (like 6-7 AM), the fields become editable again. Also, for the phone number issue, I had to mail in a form to get it corrected - it's form DE 4581. You can download it from the EDD website. Takes forever but it's the only way they'll accept phone number changes if the online system won't let you do it. Hang in there! 💪
