Need help amending SDI claim to add correct doctor info - stuck in phone hell!
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble amending my SDI claim form. I need to add the correct doctor info or my claim won't be approved. Has anyone dealt with this before? I really need these benefits and I'm worried about messing it up. Any advice on how to fix this without getting stuck in phone hell again?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I had to amend my claim last year and it was a nightmare. Have you tried faxing in the correction? Sometimes that's faster than calling.

ā¢I didn't even think about faxing! Do you know if there's a specific form for amendments or do I just send a letter explaining the change?

ā¢There's a form! It's called DE 2501F I think. You can find it on the EDD website. Just fill it out with the correct info and fax it in. Fingers crossed for you! š¤

I swear, dealing with SDI is like trying to nail jello to a wall š¤¦āāļø Have you tried reaching out to your state representative? Sometimes they can light a fire under EDD's butt.

Listen up, folks! I've been through this rodeo before, and here's what you need to know about amending SDI claims: ⢠First, try the online portal. Sometimes you can make minor changes there without calling. ⢠If that doesn't work, look for form DE 2501F on the EDD website. This is your go-to for amendments. ⢠Fill out the form COMPLETELY. Any missing info will just delay things. ⢠Fax the form if possible. It's faster than mail and more reliable than trying to call. ⢠Keep a copy of everything you send and note the date you sent it. ⢠If you don't hear back in 10 business days, then start calling. Use the trick I'll mention in my next comment to get through. ⢠Be persistent but polite. The folks on the other end are probably overworked and underpaid. Remember, patience is key. The system is frustrating, but you'll get there!

ā¢This should be pinned to the top of the subreddit tbh. So many people asking the same questions over and over.

Alright, here's the secret weapon for actually getting someone on the phone. I used this site called claimyr.com - it's a calling tool that dials through the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a real person picks up. It costs $20, but it saved me hours of frustration. Here's a video explaining how it works: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

ā¢Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

ā¢I'm skeptical. How do we know this isn't just some scam to get our info?

ā¢I get the skepticism, but I promise it's legit. I was desperate after trying to get through for weeks and this actually worked. They don't ask for any personal info beyond your phone number to call you back.

Quick question - did you initially file online or by mail? I've heard the online system is more prone to errors like this.

ā¢I filed online. Maybe that's part of the problem? But it seemed faster at the time.

ā¢Yeah, that might be it. The online system is convenient but buggy. For future reference, paper apps seem to have fewer issues. Live and learn, I guess.

Hey Amelia! I just went through this exact same situation a few months ago. Here's what worked for me: First, definitely try the DE 2501F form that Ethan mentioned - that's the correct amendment form. But here's a pro tip: when you fax it, also send a copy via certified mail as backup. I learned this the hard way when my first fax got "lost" somewhere in their system. Also, make sure to include your claim number on EVERY page and write "AMENDMENT REQUEST" in big letters at the top. The key is being super clear about what you're changing - write something like "Correcting doctor information from [wrong info] to [correct info]" right at the beginning. Good luck, and don't give up! The system is frustrating but you'll get through it. šŖ
