SDI claim mess: Accidentally submitted post-birth claim, need to delete it. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my SDI claim. I submitted for SDI before giving birth, but then I accidentally submitted another claim for post-birth. Now I need to get the new claim deleted so my doctor can submit the post-birth medical certification to the original claim. Has anyone dealt with something similar? Any advice on how to handle this mess?

Ugh, the SDI system is such a headache! 🤦♀️ I had a similar issue last year. Your best bet is to call them ASAP and explain the situation. Be prepared to wait on hold for hours though...

•Thanks for the heads up! I was afraid it might come down to calling them. Guess I'll have to clear my schedule for the next century 🙃

I actually found a way to get someone on the phone without waiting forever. I used this site called claimyr.com - it's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then sends the call to your phone when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•Yeah, it's totally legit! I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

•How long did it take for them to get through?

•For me, it took about 2 hours. But I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music the whole time, which was amazing

Here's what you need to do: 1. Call SDI immediately and explain the situation. Be clear that you need the second claim deleted. 2. Ask them to make a note on your original claim about the post-birth certification. 3. Get the name and ID number of the rep you speak with. 4. Follow up with a written request (email or fax) referencing your conversation. 5. Contact your doctor's office and explain the situation. Make sure they know which claim ID to use. 6. Keep all documentation of your attempts to resolve this. It might take some time, but stay persistent. Good luck!

•This is solid advice. I'd add: if you don't get anywhere with the first rep, don't be afraid to call back and try again. Sometimes you just need to find the right person who knows what they're doing.

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the phone, try reaching out to your local assembly member's office. They often have direct lines to EDD/SDI and can help push things along.

•This! 👆 My assembly member's office saved my butt when I had issues with my claim last year. Definitely worth a shot!
