SDI Claim Date Change While in Rehab - Need Advice!

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my SDI claim. I'm currently in rehab for two weeks, but the dates are overlapping with my existing claim. Has anyone dealt with changing dates on an active claim before? I'm not sure how to handle this situation and could really use some advice.

Ugh, dealing with SDI can be such a headache! I had a similar issue last year when I had to extend my claim. Here's what worked for me: 1. Call the SDI office ASAP. The earlier you notify them, the better. 2. Have all your paperwork ready - medical records, original claim info, etc. 3. Be prepared to explain your situation clearly and concisely. 4. Ask about the possibility of amending your current claim instead of filing a new one. 5. Follow up with a written request if they ask for it. 6. Keep a record of all communications (who you spoke to, date, time). Hope this helps! Good luck navigating the bureaucracy 🙄

This is solid advice! I'd add one more thing: be patient. It took me weeks to get everything sorted out with my claim.

Weeks? Lucky you! I've been trying to fix my claim for MONTHS. The system is broken af 😤

Yikes, months? That's rough. Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help speed things up.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 🤦‍♂️

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Sometimes you gotta pay to play 🤷‍♀️

have you tried faxing your request? sometimes the old school methods work better with these dinosaur agencies lol

Bruh, I feel you. I'm in the same boat rn. The whole system is a joke. Good luck getting anyone to actually help 🙄

fr fr 💯 its like they dont want us to get the benefits we deserve

Have you considered just letting your current claim run its course and then filing a new one for the rehab period? Might be easier than trying to change dates.

I thought about that, but I'm worried about gaps in coverage. Plus, doesn't filing a new claim reset the waiting period?

Good point, I didn't think about the waiting period. Def try to amend the existing claim first then.

Pro tip: document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every interaction. You never know when you'll need to prove you've been trying to resolve this. CYA all the way!

idk if this helps, but I had luck reaching out on Twitter. Sometimes public shaming gets results 😈

This! Social media can be a powerful tool. I got my issue resolved after tweeting at my state rep.
