SDI Benefits: Doctor Verification Notice - What to Do?
Hey everyone, I'm having some trouble with my SDI benefits. I got a notice about doctor verification but I'm not sure what to do next. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I expect?

Ugh, doctor verification can be such a pain. I went through this last year. Make sure you have all your medical records ready and contact your doctor ASAP. They might need to fill out some forms for you.

•This ☝️ Get on it quick, cuz doctors offices can be slow AF with paperwork

•Thanks for the advice! I'll call my doctor's office tomorrow. Any idea how long the whole process usually takes?

•It really depends, but in my case it took about 3 weeks from start to finish. Just keep bugging your doctor's office if they're slow lol

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at EDD. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds kinda sketchy. Is it legit?

•Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo

•How long did you have to wait for the callback?

•It took about 2 hours for me, but I've heard it can vary. Still way better than trying to call yourself tho

Here's what you need to know about SDI doctor verification: • EDD requires this to confirm your medical condition • Your doctor needs to complete Form DE 2525XX • Make sure all dates and diagnoses match your claim • Follow up with your doctor regularly • Keep copies of everything you submit • If EDD needs more info, they'll send you a notice • Don't miss any deadlines or your benefits could be delayed Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Quick tip: If you're having trouble getting your doctor to respond, try contacting the medical records department directly. Sometimes they can move things along faster than going through your doc.

Has anyone had experience with appealing a denial based on insufficient medical evidence? I'm in that boat now and could use some advice...

•Oof, that's rough. I'd recommend getting a lawyer who specializes in disability claims. It can make a huge difference.

•Thanks, I'll look into that. Any idea on typical costs for something like this?

•Most work on contingency, so they only get paid if you win. Usually around 25-30% of backpay. Good luck!

Just went through this myself a few months ago! The key thing is don't panic - it's pretty routine. Make sure you call your doctor's office right away and explain it's for disability benefits, they usually prioritize those. Also, if your doctor is part of a larger medical group, sometimes it helps to go directly to the office rather than calling. They can usually tell you exactly what forms they need and how long it'll take. The whole process was way less scary than I thought it would be!
