Pregnancy SDI claim disappeared from online portal - Kaiser doctor already submitted certification

Has anyone else had their pregnancy disability claim just vanish from the SDI Online portal? I filed for maternity disability 2 weeks ago and could see my case # in the system. My Kaiser OB submitted all the medical certification forms right away (I confirmed this with their office). The claim status showed as "pending" for about 4 days, but when I logged in this morning, there's NOTHING there at all! The entire claim has disappeared from my account. I'm due in 6 weeks and starting to panic that I'll have no income during my leave. Is this a normal glitch in the EDD system or should I be worried something's wrong with my claim? Anyone know what this means or what I should do?

omg same thing happened to me!! mine disappeared after being pending for like a week. i freaked out and called edd about 50 times before getting through. turns out it was just processing and showed up again 3 days later with my first payment. dont panic yet!

Really?? That's a relief to hear. Did you have to do anything special to make it reappear, or it just showed up again? I've been trying to call but can't get through to anyone.

This is actually a known issue with the SDI Online portal during pregnancy claims processing. When they transfer your claim from initial review to the payment processing department, there's sometimes a 2-5 day period where it disappears from the online system. If your doctor definitely submitted the certification (form DE 2501), your claim is likely still in process. The system does this weird limbo thing where claims momentarily vanish during status changes. Keep checking daily - it should reappear with either an approved status or with a notice requesting additional information.

Thank you so much for explaining this! No one tells you about these weird system quirks when you apply. I'll keep checking and hopefully it reappears soon with approval.

My sisters friend works at EDD and she said sometimes the system does maintenance and claims look like they disappeared but they didnt really. Just a display problem.

Unfortunately, the disappearing claim can indicate a few different things: 1. System glitch during processing (most common) 2. Your claim was flagged for review and temporarily removed from view 3. There was an issue with your doctor's certification 4. EDD is updating your claim status The most reliable way to find out is speaking directly with an EDD representative. However, as you probably know, getting through on their phone lines can be nearly impossible. I recently discovered a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get through to an EDD agent in under 20 minutes when my own pregnancy claim had issues. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ?si=1hcSq3KFtCr4oAmd It was worth it to get answers directly instead of stressing for days. With your baby coming soon, you probably want this resolved quickly!

Thank you for this suggestion! I've been stressing so much about this. I'll check out that service if my claim doesn't reappear in the next day or two. You're right that I need to get this figured out before the baby comes!

Don't panic! This is EXACTLY what happened with my pregnancy disability claim last year. The claim disappeared for exactly 6 days and then suddenly reappeared as "approved" with payment info. I think it's just part of their processing system. The EDD computer systems are from like the stone age!!! But if you want peace of mind, try calling right when they open at 8:00 am. That's how I finally got through on my second pregnancy claim when I had questions.

This is incorrect information about calling. EDD SDI phone hours actually start at 8:30am Monday through Friday, not 8:00am. Please be careful about spreading misinformation as it can waste people's time.

I definitely will update! Seems like this happens a lot with pregnancy claims based on everyone's responses. Hoping both our claims reappear soon! Congrats on your pregnancy too! ❤️

UPDATE: My claim just reappeared in the system with APPROVED status! It was exactly 4 days from when it disappeared. You all were right - it seems to be part of their normal processing. For anyone else experiencing this, just be patient and keep checking. The first payment is already being processed too! Such a relief!

omg congrats!!! hope mine comes back approved too!! this gives me hope!

When I had my baby last year the sammmmmme thing happened. EDD really needs to fix their system and at least warn people this might happen! So stressful when you're already dealing with pregnancy stuff!

Great news about your claim being approved! For future reference for anyone reading this thread later: if your claim disappears for more than 7 business days, that's when you should start trying more aggressively to contact EDD. The normal "disappearing" period during processing is typically 2-6 days. Also, remember that pregnancy disability claims through SDI are different from Paid Family Leave (PFL) which you'll need to file separately after your recovery period if you want bonding time with your baby. The two programs have different claim processes.

Thank you for that clarification! Yes, I'll be filing for PFL after my 6-8 weeks of disability recovery time. I've heard that transition can be tricky too, so I'll start researching that process now.
