PFL claim vanished from EDD account - all inbox messages gone too. Help!

I applied for the second half of my bonding leave in mid-December. I was getting text updates about my claim, and the last one I got was mid-January saying they got my supporting docs. But when I checked my account last week, my claim is completely gone! It's not even showing as pending anymore. All my inbox messages have disappeared too. Has anyone else experienced this? What should I do now?

Ugh, that sucks! The EDD system is such a mess. I had something similar happen to me last year. It's like your claim just vanishes into thin air. Have you tried calling them? Good luck getting through tho 🙄

I've been trying to call all morning with no luck. It's so frustrating! Did you ever get your issue resolved?

0 coins

Yeah, but it took WEEKS of calling. I swear I spent more time on hold than actually bonding with my baby 😅 Keep trying, and document everything!

pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins on hold that way

This happened to me too! I thought I was going crazy. turns out there was a glitch in there system that wiped out a bunch of claims. you need to call and have them manually reinstate it. its a pain but its the only way

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? 🤔

It did for me! Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

20 bucks to avoid EDD hold music? Sign me up! 😂

This is a known issue with the EDD system. Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Take screenshots of your account showing the missing claim. 2. Call EDD immediately. Be persistent. You might need to try multiple times. 3. When you get through, explain the situation calmly and ask for a supervisor if needed. 4. Request that they manually reinstate your claim. 5. Ask for a confirmation number or email for the reinstatement. 6. Follow up in writing (email or mail) to create a paper trail. 7. Check your account daily for updates. If you can't get through on the phone, consider reaching out to your local state representative's office. They often have liaisons who can help with EDD issues. Remember, you're entitled to these benefits. Don't give up! 💪

Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll start working on this right away. Really appreciate the help! ❤️

This is solid gold advice right here. Wish I had known this when I had my issue last year!

have you tried logging out and logging back in? sometimes that fixes weird glitches in the system

I tried that a few times, but no luck. Thanks for the suggestion though!

edd is the worst. they lost my claim 3 times last year. ended up having to get my state rep involved to fix it. good luck!

Sounds like you might be dealing with the infamous 'phantom claim' bug. It's been plaguing the system for months now. You're gonna need to talk to a tier 2 specialist to get it fixed. Buckle up, it's gonna be a wild ride! 🎢

0 coins

Oh great, just what I needed - more complications! 😩 Any tips on how to specifically ask for a tier 2 specialist?

When you finally get through, tell them you're dealing with a 'phantom claim' and need a tier 2 specialist. Be polite but firm. If they try to brush you off, ask to speak to a supervisor. Good luck!

This exact same thing happened to me in November! My entire PFL claim just disappeared overnight along with all my messages. I was panicking because I thought I'd lost everything. Turns out it's a system glitch that's been affecting a lot of people lately. I had to call multiple times over 2 weeks, but they were eventually able to restore my claim and all the documentation. The key is getting to someone who actually understands the technical side - don't let them tell you to just reapply. Your original application date matters for processing times. Keep all your screenshots and confirmation numbers handy when you call!

This gives me so much hope! Thank you for sharing your experience. Two weeks sounds rough but at least there's light at the end of the tunnel. I'm definitely going to emphasize that I don't want to reapply - I hadn't thought about how the original application date would matter for processing. Really appreciate the tip about keeping screenshots and confirmation numbers ready! 🙏

I went through this exact nightmare about 6 months ago! My PFL claim completely vanished along with all my correspondence history. It's absolutely terrifying when you're depending on those benefits. Here's what worked for me: First, don't panic - your claim isn't actually gone, it's just hidden due to a system bug. Second, start calling EDD at exactly 8:00 AM when they open. I know everyone says this, but it really does make a difference. Third, when you do get through, use the exact phrase "my claim has been affected by the phantom claim glitch" - this seems to help them understand the technical issue faster. The rep who finally helped me explained that they have to manually "unhide" the claim from their backend system. It took about 10 business days for everything to reappear in my account, but once it did, all my messages and documentation were still there. Also, if you have any text confirmations or emails from when you originally submitted your claim, have those ready - they can help verify your case. Don't let them convince you to start over with a new application! Hang in there - I know it's incredibly stressful, especially when you're trying to bond with your little one. You WILL get this resolved! 💙

This is incredibly helpful, thank you so much! I'm definitely going to use that exact phrase about the "phantom claim glitch" - it sounds like having the right terminology makes all the difference with their system. The 10 business day timeline gives me realistic expectations too. I've been so worried that all my documentation was lost forever, so it's reassuring to hear everything reappeared in your account. I'll make sure to have my text confirmations ready when I call tomorrow morning at 8 AM sharp. Thanks for taking the time to share such detailed advice - it really means a lot during this stressful time! 🙏

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this - it sounds absolutely terrifying when you're counting on those benefits! I'm a new member here but I've been lurking and reading about similar issues. From what I've gathered from other posts, this "phantom claim" glitch seems to be a real problem that's affecting quite a few people. I haven't personally gone through this yet (still on my first half of bonding leave), but seeing all the detailed advice here is both helpful and concerning. It's reassuring to know that claims can be restored, but frustrating that it seems to require so much persistence and the right terminology to get proper help. Thank you to everyone who's shared their experiences and solutions - this community is such a valuable resource for navigating EDD's complicated system. Amara, I really hope you get through tomorrow morning and can get this resolved quickly! 🤞

Welcome to the community, Joy! It's great that you're preparing yourself with this information even though you haven't hit this issue yet. You're absolutely right - this community has been such a lifesaver for navigating EDD's maze. It's scary how common this phantom claim glitch seems to be, but at least we're all here to help each other through it. I'm dealing with this exact same issue right now! My PFL claim disappeared from my account about a week ago, and I've been in panic mode ever since. It's such a relief to find this thread and realize I'm not alone - I was starting to think I was going crazy or had somehow messed up my application. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been incredibly helpful. I'm definitely going to try calling at 8 AM sharp tomorrow and use the "phantom claim glitch" terminology that @Wesley mentioned. It's frustrating that we have to become EDD experts just to get our rightful benefits, but I'm grateful for this community sharing all these tips. @Amara, please keep us updated on how your call goes! I'll be rooting for you and will share my own experience once I hopefully get through to someone. We've got this! 💪

@Margot I'm so glad this thread is helping you too! It's awful that so many of us are dealing with this, but there's definitely strength in numbers. The fact that multiple people have successfully gotten their claims restored gives me hope that this is fixable, even if it takes some persistence. I'll definitely update everyone once I get through - whether it's good news or more frustration! Let's both try the 8 AM approach tomorrow and compare notes. Thanks for the solidarity - it really helps to know we're all in this together! 🤝

This thread is so eye-opening! I'm currently on my first PFL claim and everything seems to be going smoothly, but reading about this "phantom claim glitch" is definitely making me anxious about what could happen. It sounds absolutely terrifying to have your claim just vanish, especially when you're depending on those benefits during such an important time with your baby. I'm taking screenshots of everything in my account right now just in case this happens to me. Thank you to everyone who shared their experiences and solutions - especially the specific tips about calling at 8 AM and using the right terminology. This community is amazing for helping each other navigate EDD's broken system. @Amara and @Margot, I'll be thinking of you both tomorrow morning! Hopefully you both get through quickly and get this resolved. Please keep us updated - your experiences will help so many other parents who might face this same issue. 🤞✨

@Aria you're so smart to take screenshots now! I wish I had thought to do that before my claim disappeared. It's crazy that we have to treat the EDD system like it might just randomly delete our stuff at any moment, but here we are 😅 Your proactive approach will definitely save you headaches if this glitch hits you. Thanks for the well wishes - it's so nice to have this supportive community when dealing with EDD's chaos!

I'm new to this community but had to jump in because this exact thing happened to my sister last month! Her entire PFL claim just disappeared from her account overnight, along with all her messages and documentation. She was absolutely panicking, especially since she was already dealing with postpartum anxiety. After reading through this thread, I'm realizing she went through the same "phantom claim glitch" that so many of you have experienced. She ended up getting it resolved, but it took about 3 weeks of persistent calling and multiple escalations. The key thing that finally worked was getting connected to someone in the technical support team who could actually see the "hidden" claim in their system. One tip I learned from her experience: if the first person you talk to says they can't see any record of your claim, don't let them convince you to start over. Ask to speak to a supervisor or technical specialist immediately. Your claim IS still there in their system, it's just not displaying properly. @Amara, I'm sending you all the positive vibes for your call tomorrow! This community seems amazing for support - I wish my sister had known about it when she was going through this nightmare. You've got this! 💪
