PFL Bonding leave stuck 'pending' for a month, can't reach EDD. Help!
I applied for PFL Bonding leave almost a month ago and its still pending. I can't even get through on the phone to talk to anyone. The whole point of bonding leave is to relax with my baby, but now I'm stressing about bills. Anyone else dealing with this? Any advice on how to get through or speed up the process?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat last year. It took them 6 weeks to approve my claim. The system is so broken 😤

•6 weeks?! That's insane. How did you manage financially?

•It was rough. Had to borrow money from family and max out credit cards. Not ideal when youre trying to focus on your newborn 😓

•This is why I'm scared to even apply. The stress seems worse than just not taking the leave 😞

Have you tried calling right when they open? I've heard that's the best way to get through.

•Yeah, I've been trying that. Even using two phones at once. No luck so far 😩

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•I'm skeptical. Why should we have to pay to talk to a government agency? 🤔

•I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth the $20 imo

Pro tip: send a message through your online account. Sometimes they respond faster that way. Also, contact your local assembly member's office. They can often help speed things up.

This is why the system is so messed up. They make it impossible to get help, and then we're left scrambling. It's not like new parents have time to spend hours on the phone 🙄

•Preach! 🙌 The whole point of this benefit is to reduce stress, not add to it

Here's what worked for me to get my PFL claim approved faster: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and online submissions. 2. Be persistent. Call every day if you have to. 3. Use multiple channels. Phone, online messages, email if possible. 4. Reach out to your employer's HR. Sometimes they can help push things along. 5. Contact your local assembly member or state senator's office. They often have liaisons who can intervene. 6. If all else fails, file a complaint with the state labor board. It's a pain, but stay on top of it. Good luck!

Have you checked if there's any missing information on your application? Sometimes they don't tell you if something's incomplete and just leave it pending.

•Good point, I'll double check. Tho you'd think they'd let us know if something was missing 🙄
