Need help re-assigning EDD SDI eligibility dates after approval - fastest way to update?

Hey everyone, I finally got through to the disability office and got approved for benefits, but now I need to reach them again to update my eligibility dates. It's been a month since I was approved for $675 per week, and I'm worried about slowing down the process. Has anyone had experience with re-assigning eligibility dates? Any tips on the fastest way to get this sorted out? I'm not sure if I should wait for the Netspend card they sent or try to set up direct deposit. Any advice would be appreciated!

Congrats on getting approved! šŸŽ‰ I've been there before, and updating eligibility can be a pain. Here's what I'd suggest: ā€¢ Call EDD first thing in the morning, like right when they open ā€¢ Have all your paperwork ready, including your approval letter ā€¢ Ask specifically for the 'eligibility reassignment' department ā€¢ If you get a voicemail, leave a detailed message with your claim number ā€¢ Keep calling daily until you get through As for payment, direct deposit is usually faster than the card. When you talk to them, ask to set up direct deposit ASAP. Good luck!

This is solid advice! I'd add that you should also check your online account regularly for any updates or messages. Sometimes they communicate through there faster than by mail.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. How does it actually work? Is it legit?

Yeah, it's legit. You just put in your phone number and pick which EDD line you want to call. They do all the waiting and menu navigation, then call you when they get a real person.

20 bucks? That's highway robbery! The government should make it easier to reach them without having to pay extra šŸ˜¤

I get it, but for me, it was worth it. I was losing way more than $20 in missed benefits by not being able to reach them. Sometimes you gotta spend money to make money, ya know?

Whatever you do, DON'T wait for that Netspend card. I made that mistake and it took forever to actually get my money. Push for direct deposit, it's way faster and more reliable.

šŸ’Æ this. That Netspend card is nothing but trouble. Direct deposit all the way!

Preach! šŸ™Œ It's like they make it difficult on purpose. We're already dealing with health issues, why make it harder?

Totally agree. It's a fulltime job just trying to navigate the system. Something needs to change.

Hey OP, quick question - when you say 're-assign eligibility', do you mean you're trying to backdate your claim? Cuz if so, that's a whole different process and you might need to talk to a specific department for that.

Good question! I'm not trying to backdate, just update the end date of my eligibility period. My doctor extended my disability time, so I need to reflect that in my claim.

Ah, gotcha. In that case, you'll need to submit a 'Claim Extension' form. You can usually do this online through your EDD account. Might save you some phone time!

pro tip: if u cant get thru on the main line, try calling some of the other edd numbers (like the employer line) and ask to be transferred. worked for me last month!
