EDD disability claim: No updates or payments after follow-up call. What now?

I called the EDD about my disability claim last week and they told me to call back if I didn't hear anything or get any payments by today. Well, surprise surprise, still nothing. No updates, no payments, nada. Anyone else dealing with this? What should I do now?

Ugh, classic EDD. They're always giving us the runaround. I've been waiting on my disability payments for over a month now. It's like they enjoy making us suffer ๐Ÿ™„

A month? That's nothing. I've been waiting for 3 months now. It's ridiculous how they expect us to survive without income for so long.

Have you tried calling them every single day? That's what I had to do to finally get someone to help me. It's exhausting, but it might work

Every day? Ain't nobody got time for that! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ But I guess if that's what it takes...

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. How does it actually work? Is it legit?

โ€ข

It's totally legit! The service basically acts like a virtual assistant that waits on hold for you. When a real person picks up, it calls your phone and connects you. Saved me hours of hold time.

$20 just to talk to someone? That's highway robbery! The system is so broken ๐Ÿ˜ก

I get it, but for me, it was worth it. Time is money, and I was wasting whole days trying to get through. This way I could actually do other things while waiting for a callback.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, who you spoke to, and what they said. 2. Send a follow-up email to EDD referencing your previous call and asking for a status update. 3. If you don't hear back within 48 hours, call again and ask to speak with a supervisor. 4. Consider reaching out to your local state representative. They often have liaisons who can help push things through. 5. Check your online account daily for any updates or requests for additional information. 6. If you're in dire financial straits, look into emergency assistance programs in your area while you wait. 7. Don't give up! The squeaky wheel gets the grease in these situations. Hang in there, OP. The system is frustrating, but persistence usually pays off eventually.

This is solid advice right here ๐Ÿ’ฏ Especially contacting your rep. They helped me break through the bureaucracy when I was stuck.

Thank you so much for this detailed response! I'll definitely start working through this list. Fingers crossed it helps move things along.

have you checked your spam folder? sometimes edd emails end up there and you miss important updates

I swear the EDD is run by a bunch of sloths on vacation. How hard is it to process a claim and hit 'approve'? ๐Ÿฆฅ๐Ÿ–๏ธ

LOL that mental image tho ๐Ÿคฃ Sloths in little Hawaiian shirts sipping mai tais while our claims gather dust

Hey now, don't insult sloths like that. They'd probably do a better job than EDD!

Pro tip: if you call right when they open, you have a better chance of getting through. Set your alarm for 7:55 AM and start dialing at 8:00 AM sharp. Good luck!

โ€ข

Yeah, you can check your claim status on the SDI Online portal. Just log in and look for the 'Claim Status' section. But fair warning, it's not always up to date.

Have you considered reaching out to a disability advocate? They can sometimes help navigate the system and push things along. Might be worth looking into if you're really stuck.

plot twist: the edd is actually a secret government program to test how long citizens can go without snapping. we're all just lab rats in their sick experiment ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿงช

Unpopular opinion: maybe try being patient? The EDD is dealing with thousands of claims. I know it sucks to wait, but they're probably doing their best.

Lol, definitely not. Just trying to see it from their perspective. But yeah, the wait times are still ridiculous.
