EDD claim start date issue after new doctor form - need advice!

Hey everyone, I'm having an issue with my claim start date after submitting a new form from my doctor. I called to follow up but I'm not sure what to ask or how to handle this. Has anyone dealt with something similar? I don't have any documentation showing when my claim should have started, so I'm feeling a bit lost. Any advice on what I should do or say when I talk to them?

I found a way to solve claim start date confusion, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3uXoyHdZR4

Ugh, been there done that. The start date can be such a headache! When I had this issue, I asked them to explain how they determined the start date. Sometimes they use the date on the doctor's form, other times it's based on your last day of work. Make sure to ask them to break it down for you.

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely ask them to explain how they came up with the date. Fingers crossed it helps clear things up 🤞

This is solid advice. I'd also recommend taking notes during the call. These conversations can get confusing real quick!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone without waiting forever. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. How does it actually work? Is it legit?

0 coins

It's totally legit! You just enter your phone number on their website, pay the fee, and they call you when they get an agent on the line. Saved me hours of hold time.

$20 seems steep just to make a phone call. Is it really worth it? 🤔

0 coins

For me, it was worth every penny. Time is money, and I'd rather pay $20 than waste half a day on hold. But everyone's situation is different!

Ugh, dealing with claim start dates is such a pain! 🙄 I had a similar issue last year. When you call, make sure to ask them to verify the exact date they have on file. Sometimes there can be discrepancies between what the doctor submits and what they actually record.

Totally agree! I always write down the date I first saw my doctor for the issue, just in case. It's saved me so much hassle!

Wait, so do they go by when u first saw the doc or when the doc submitted the form? Im confused 😕

It usually depends on your specific situation, but generally, it's the date your doctor determines you became disabled or unable to work. Best to clarify with them directly tho!

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous, we shouldn't have to pay for basic customer service! 😤

I get the frustration, but for me, it was worth it. Saved me hours of hold time and stress. Sometimes you gotta spend money to save time, ya know?

How does it work exactly? Do they give you a specific time to expect the call or what?

Yeah, once they get an agent on the line, they immediately call you. You just have to be ready to pick up when they do. Super convenient!

Listen up, because I've been through this rodeo before. Here's what you need to do: • First, gather all your paperwork. Even if you don't have the exact start date, any related documents can help. • When you call, ask them to verify the start date they have on file. • If it's incorrect, politely ask them to explain how they determined that date. • Request information on the appeal process if you disagree with their date. • Ask if there's any additional documentation you can provide to support your claim start date. • Get the name and ID number of the person you speak with, and take detailed notes. • If possible, request a written explanation of their decision. Remember, stay calm and polite, but be persistent. It's your claim, and you have the right to understand every aspect of it. Good luck!

Wow, this is incredibly helpful! Thank you so much for taking the time to write all this out. I'll definitely follow these steps. 💯

This guy claims! 👆 Seriously tho, solid advice here.

Listen up, because I've been through this rodeo before. Here's what you need to do: 1. Gather any and all documentation you have. Even if you don't have the exact start date, anything related to your condition can help. 2. Call the claims office and politely ask for a detailed review of your claim's timeline. 3. If there's a discrepancy, ask about the appeals process. Sometimes you can submit additional evidence. 4. Keep a log of every interaction - names, dates, what was discussed. 5. If you hit a wall, consider reaching out to your local representative's office. They can sometimes intervene on your behalf. Remember, persistence is key. Don't let them give you the runaround. You got this! 💪

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely follow these steps. Quick question - how long did your appeal process take, if you don't mind me asking?

0 coins

My appeal took about 6 weeks, but I've heard it can vary. Just stay on top of it and don't be afraid to follow up!

This whole system is so broken. Why is it so hard to get simple information about our own claims? It's like they're trying to make us give up. 😫

Preach! 🙌 I swear they make it complicated on purpose.

It's all about cutting costs. Fewer successful claims = more money for them. Stay strong and don't let them win!

Pro tip: If you can't get through on the phone, try reaching out via social media. Sometimes their Twitter or Facebook team can help or at least escalate your issue. worked for me!

Hang in there, friend. Have you tried meditation? There are some great free apps out there. Also, don't be afraid to reach out to a therapist if you need to talk to someone.

Exercise helps me a ton when I'm stressed about this stuff. Even just a walk around the block can clear your head.

LMAO 🤣 ain't that the truth! I'd rather wrestle an alligator than deal with this bureaucratic nightmare again

Just a heads up, they changed some policies last month. Make sure you're asking about the most current rules when you call. I got caught out by this and had to call back multiple times. What a waste of time 🙄

0 coins

Oh no, I had no idea! Thanks for the warning. Do you know where I can find info on these new policies?

0 coins

Try checking their official website. They usually post updates there. If not, def ask the rep when you call. Good luck!

0 coins

Hey OP, quick question - did your doctor backdate the form at all? That can sometimes affect the start date of the claim. Might be worth double-checking with your doc's office.
