EDD SDI payment scheduled for holiday weekend still missing after 6 days - anyone else?
I was supposed to receive my disability payment on Thanksgiving day (11/27) according to my online account, but here we are almost a week later and still nothing! The payment shows as 'issued' in the system but hasn't hit my BofA card or my bank account. I called EDD like 25 times yesterday and couldn't get through to anyone. Has anyone else had their payment delayed because of the holiday? Is there some kind of special holiday processing time I don't know about? Getting pretty anxious since rent is due tomorrow and I was counting on this payment.

•Have you been able to get through to anyone on the phone? I've tried both the disability customer service line and the BofA card line.

This happens every year during Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays. There's a processing delay with Bank of America because of the holiday schedule. When the payment date falls on a holiday, it typically takes 3-5 business days longer than usual. Remember that Friday after Thanksgiving is also considered a banking holiday by many institutions, and then you had the weekend, so business days didn't resume until Monday. I'd give it until tomorrow before panicking.

•Thank you for explaining! The EDD website doesn't mention anything about holiday delays, which is really frustrating. Is there any official documentation about this somewhere? I wish they would communicate these things better.

•There's a brief mention on their FAQ page under 'Payment Information', but it's not very detailed. You can call your bank to confirm if there's a pending deposit that hasn't posted yet - sometimes they can see incoming ACH transfers before they're fully processed.

The EXACT same thing happened to me!! My payment was due on Thanksgiving and I'm still waiting. I've been on disability since September (pregnancy complications) and this is the first time a payment has been late. I'm seriously stressing because I have doctor appts tomorrow I need to pay for. The website shows payment issued but my card is empty. Has anyone gotten through to a real person??

•Not yet, I've been trying since Monday morning. The automated system just disconnects me after saying they're experiencing high call volumes.

Have you guys tried Claimyr? I was in the same situation with my disability payment last month and couldn't get through to anyone. I used their service at claimyr.com and they got me connected to an actual EDD rep in about 20 minutes instead of me calling all day. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ?si=1hcSq3KFtCr4oAmd The rep told me there was a system flag on my account that was holding up the payment that wouldn't have resolved automatically. Worth the service fee to get it fixed immediately rather than waiting weeks for them to figure it out.

•Thanks for the tip! If I don't see anything by tomorrow morning I'll check out that service. At this point I'd try anything to get this resolved before rent is due.

I had a similar issue back in July with my SDI payment (non-holiday related). What I discovered was that there was actually a system-wide delay that wasn't being reported on their website. When I finally reached someone, they admitted they were experiencing processing delays due to a system upgrade. Two things to try: 1. Check if the payment shows as "paid" or "issued" in your payment history. If it says "issued" but not "paid" that's your problem. 2. Call the BofA EDD debit card customer service line directly (it's on the back of your card) - sometimes they can see pending transfers that haven't posted yet. Most importantly, document EVERYTHING. Note the dates, times, and confirmation numbers of all your attempted contacts with EDD. If they end up causing you late fees or other financial harm due to their delay, you can file for reimbursement.

•Mine says "issued" in the payment history but not "paid" - so that seems to be exactly what's happening! I'll try the BofA line, though I did try yesterday and got stuck in their phone tree too. Thanks for the documentation tip - I hadn't thought about asking for reimbursement of late fees.

•Just checked and mine also says "issued" but not "paid" - been on disability for 3 months now and never noticed that distinction before. Learning so much from this thread!

anyone else notice this happens like EVERY holiday?? i was on disability last year during july 4th weekend and same exact problem. EDD is a joke. they expect us to file everything on time but then they can just delay our money whenever they want??? some of us have bills due!!

•It's my first time on disability so I had no idea this was a common issue during holidays. They really should warn people about this possibility!

•Just checked and mine came through too! What a relief. Thanks everyone for the help and commiseration. For future reference, it took exactly 6 days after the holiday for the payment to actually arrive.

As someone who's been on disability for about 8 months now, I can confirm this holiday delay issue is unfortunately pretty common. What helped me in the past was calling the BofA EDD card line super early in the morning (like 7 AM) - sometimes you can get through before the lines get jammed. Also, if you're really in a bind financially, some banks will give you a small advance if you can show them the "issued" payment in your EDD account. It's not ideal but might help with urgent bills. Hope everyone's payments come through soon!

•Thanks for the tip about calling BofA early! I'm new to all this and had no idea about the advance option - that's really helpful to know for future situations. It's crazy that we have to learn all these workarounds just to get our payments on time. Definitely going to remember the 7 AM call strategy for next time there's a holiday delay.

This is really reassuring to read! I'm also new to disability benefits (started in October after a work injury) and had no idea holiday delays were a thing. My payment was supposed to come last Wednesday and I've been stressed out of my mind thinking something went wrong with my claim. The "issued" vs "paid" distinction that Sofia mentioned is super helpful - mine also shows "issued" but not "paid" so now I know what to look for. Going to try the early morning BofA call strategy tomorrow if it doesn't show up overnight. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, it really helps to know I'm not alone in this!

•I'm in the exact same boat! Started disability in November after a car accident and this holiday delay caught me completely off guard. It's so frustrating that EDD doesn't clearly communicate these processing delays anywhere obvious on their website. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been a huge relief - I was starting to think my claim got flagged or something went wrong. Definitely going to bookmark this thread for future reference during holiday weekends. Hope your payment comes through soon!

I'm going through this exact same situation right now! My payment was scheduled for Thursday (11/28) and it's still showing as "issued" but not "paid" in my account. This is my first time dealing with EDD disability benefits after a workplace injury in October, so I had absolutely no clue that holiday processing delays were even a thing. I've been calling nonstop since Monday with no luck getting through to anyone. Reading through all these comments has been such a relief - I was starting to panic that something was seriously wrong with my claim. It's really frustrating that they don't clearly warn people about these delays on their main website. At least now I know to expect this kind of thing during future holidays. Crossing my fingers mine comes through today like some of yours did!
