EDD SDI payment delayed after Veterans Day - anyone else missing direct deposit?

My disability payment was supposed to hit my account today (November 12, 2025), but I'm not seeing anything yet. I certified on time over the weekend, and my previous payments have been arriving like clockwork every two weeks. I'm wondering if the Veterans Day holiday is causing delays with direct deposits? This is making me anxious because my rent is due soon and I was counting on this payment. Is anyone else experiencing this issue or knows if EDD typically has delays after holidays?

Yes! Same thing happened to me this morning. I was expecting my payment to show up today but nothing's there. Every other payment has been on time since I started my disability claim in September. I'm guessing it's definitely related to the Veterans Day holiday delaying the bank processing. Most federal holidays push everything back by one business day.

That's a relief to hear I'm not the only one! Do you know if we should expect it tomorrow then? I really need to pay some bills.

I've been on disability for 6 months now for my back surgery and I notice EVERY single holiday messes up the payment schedule! It's so frustrating because they never warn you about it and then you're sitting there wondering where your money is. And good luck trying to call EDD to ask about it - I spent 3 HOURS last month trying to get through to someone about a missing payment only to find out it was delayed because of Labor Day. THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN!!!

You're absolutely right about the holiday delays. What's happening is that while EDD might process the payment on schedule, the Federal Reserve's ACH system (which handles direct deposits) doesn't operate on federal holidays. So any payments that would normally process through that system get delayed until the next business day. This is standard for all direct deposits, not just EDD payments. I recommend always planning for a 1-2 day delay around any federal holiday.

If you need to contact EDD about your payment or any other issues with your disability claim, I highly recommend using Claimyr. I was in a similar situation last month with a delayed payment and was getting really worried. I tried calling EDD directly but kept getting disconnected or stuck on hold forever. Then I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to an actual EDD representative in less than 10 minutes! They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ?si=1hcSq3KFtCr4oAmd. The agent I spoke with confirmed my payment was processed but delayed due to the holiday. Saved me hours of stress and waiting.

Thanks for the tip! If my payment doesn't show up tomorrow I might try that. I've tried calling EDD before and it's impossible to get through.

Does that service actually work? I've been trying to call about my disability extension for days with no luck.

EDD Disability payment advisor here - this is normal for any federal holiday. The payment processing system EDD uses doesn't run on federal holidays, so payments that would normally be processed or deposited on the holiday (or sometimes the day after) get delayed by one business day. For Veterans Day falling on a Tuesday this year, payments would typically resume normal processing on Wednesday. You should see deposits hit accounts by Thursday morning at the latest for most banks. If you don't see your payment by Thursday afternoon, then I would recommend contacting EDD directly as there might be a different issue with your claim or certification.

Thank you for the clear explanation! That's very helpful. I'll wait until Thursday before I start to worry.

My brother had same thing happen with his unemployment last year after a holiday too. All government stuff seems to run a day behind after holidays. Regular companies don't have these problems, only the government lol

UPDATE: My payment finally posted this morning! It was definitely the holiday delay. Thanks everyone for your help and reassurance!

Got mine too! Glad it worked out for both of us.
