EDD Callback Wait Time in California - How Long to Expect?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out how long I'll have to wait for a call back from the unemployment office. I'm in California and it's currently Wednesday morning. Anyone have any experience with this? How long did you have to wait?

I found a way to solve California EDD callback delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_7woFOV18w

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•$20? That's steep. Is it really worth it?

•I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me days of frustration. The $20 was worth it to finally get my issues resolved.

•I tried it too because I was desperate. Worked for me but make sure you're available for the call.

Ugh, good luck with that. I've been trying to get through to them for weeks. It's like trying to win the lottery 🎰

•Weeks? Amateur. I've been trying since March 😭

•March?! Holy cow, that's insane. What have you been doing in the meantime?

Update: Still haven't received a call back. It's been a few hours now. Should I be worried?

•Nah, a few hours is nothing. Give it at least a full business day before you start to worry.

•Hang in there! The waiting game sucks, but it's part of the process. Try to distract yourself in the meantime.

•You're not alone. It's been slow for many. It might help to set your expectations for a longer wait.

•For real. We're already stressed about being unemployed, and then we gotta deal with this nonsense 🤦♂️

Here's what I know about EDD callbacks in California: 1. They typically happen during business hours (8 AM to 5 PM). 2. The wait time can vary wildly depending on how busy they are. 3. Sometimes they'll call back same day, sometimes it takes a few days. 4. Make sure your voicemail is set up and not full! 5. If you miss the call, you might have to start the process all over again. My advice? Keep your phone close and answer every call, even if you don't recognize the number. It could be them!

•This is super helpful, thank you! I'll make sure to keep my phone on me at all times.

•Great advice! I'd add: if you miss their call, try calling back immediately. Sometimes you can catch them before they move on to the next person.

Anyone else feel like they're playing phone tag with the EDD? 📞🏃♂️ It's like a twisted game of hide and seek, except I WANT to be found! 😅

•Relatable! At times it feels like we're dealing with an automated system with a mind of its own.

LPT: While your waiting for the callback, gather all your documents and information. Have your SSN, ID, and employment history ready. It'll make the call go smoother when they finally reach you.

•I made the mistake of not doing this and had to scramble mid-call. Definitely have everything ready beforehand!

Guys, I think I figured it out. You gotta do a rain dance, sacrifice a rubber chicken, and chant 'EDD, EDD, pick up the phone for me' three times. Works every time, 60% of the time. 🐔🕺

While Claimyr can be an effective tool for getting in touch with the EDD, it's important to weigh the cost against your current financial situation. Spending $20 for a quicker connection may be worth it if you're in dire need, but there are also other strategies you can try for free, such as reaching out through official EDD channels, using web-based contact forms, or contacting your local representatives. The system is undoubtedly frustrating, and sometimes a mix of patience and persistence is essential. For those who choose to use Claimyr, it's reassuring to hear positive experiences from other users. Ultimately, whatever method you choose, being prepared and persistent can help navigate these challenging times.

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They sometimes have direct lines to EDD and can help push your case through. Worth a shot if you're stuck in limbo!

Pro tip: try calling right when they open. I've had better luck getting through early in the morning.

•I agree with this. Early morning calls have worked best for me as well. Less competition on the lines.

In my experience, it can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days. The California EDD is notoriously slow, especially during busy periods. Have you tried calling them directly?

•I second this. Calling directly sometimes works if you're persistent enough. But be prepared for long hold times.

I'm going through the same thing right now! Been waiting since yesterday afternoon for my callback. From what I've read here and experienced myself, it seems like the wait times are all over the place. Some people get called back within hours, others wait days or even weeks. I've been keeping my phone charged and close by, and I've already gathered all my documents like someone mentioned earlier. The uncertainty is definitely the worst part - you never know if today's the day or if you'll be waiting another week. Hang in there, Sofia! At least we're all in this together 💪

•Thanks for sharing your experience, Aisha! It's really reassuring to know I'm not alone in this. Yesterday afternoon feels like forever ago when you're anxiously waiting by the phone. I'm definitely keeping everything charged and ready too. The unpredictability is honestly the most stressful part - like you said, not knowing if it'll be hours or weeks. But you're right, we're all going through this together and that helps. Fingers crossed we both hear back soon! 🤞

I've been dealing with EDD callbacks for months now, and here's what I've learned: the wait times are incredibly inconsistent. Sometimes they call back the same day, sometimes it takes over a week. I've found that if you requested a callback on a Wednesday morning like you did, Sofia, you might hear back by Friday at the latest - but honestly, it could be sooner or later. The key thing is to keep your phone on you at ALL times and answer every unknown number. I missed one callback and had to wait another two weeks to get through again. Also, make sure your voicemail isn't full and has a clear greeting with your name. They won't leave detailed messages but they'll sometimes leave a brief callback number. Stay strong - the waiting game is brutal but you'll get through eventually!

•This is incredibly helpful, thank you Ethan! The part about answering every unknown number is so important - I never would have thought about that. Two weeks for missing one callback sounds absolutely brutal, but I appreciate you sharing that reality check. I'm definitely going to double-check my voicemail setup right now. It's reassuring to hear from someone who's been through this process multiple times, even though it sounds like a marathon rather than a sprint. Your Friday timeline gives me something concrete to hope for while still being realistic about the uncertainty. Thanks for taking the time to share all these practical tips!

I'm in a similar boat right now - requested my callback yesterday evening and still nothing. Reading through everyone's experiences here, it sounds like the wait times are really all over the map. Some people get lucky with same-day callbacks, others are waiting weeks or even months (Miguel, I can't believe you've been at this since March!). I think the advice about keeping your phone close and answering unknown numbers is spot on. I've already missed one potential spam call today and now I'm second-guessing myself 😅 Sofia, since you requested yours Wednesday morning, hopefully you'll hear something by end of week. The uncertainty is definitely the hardest part - not knowing if you should keep waiting or try a different approach. Thanks to everyone sharing their experiences and tips, it's really helpful to know we're not going through this alone!

•Right there with you, Sophia! I just joined this community after finding this thread and wow, reading everyone's experiences is both helpful and terrifying at the same time 😅 The fact that some people wait months while others get through in hours is just mind-boggling. I'm also in the "requested callback and now obsessively checking my phone" club. Yesterday evening for you, Wednesday morning for Sofia - hopefully we're all in that lucky group that hears back by Friday! The spam call dilemma is so real though - I've been answering everything including obvious robocalls just in case 📞 It's wild that we have to turn into phone-answering machines just to get our benefits. Thanks for sharing your experience and keeping it real about how stressful the uncertainty is!
