NYDOL back pay: How long does unemployment take to answer? Been calling all day!
Hey everyone, I'm trying to get in touch with unemployment about my back pay. I've been waiting for a while now and I'm getting really frustrated. Has anyone had any luck getting through to them lately? How long does it usually take for them to answer? I've been trying to call all day and I'm worried they'll close before I can get through. Any tips or advice would be really appreciated!

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been trying to reach them for weeks about my back pay too. It's like they're purposely making it impossible to get through. š¤¬ I've heard some people say it can take hours, but I've never even gotten that far. Good luck!

ā¢Yeah, I've tried that. Still no luck. It's like playing the lottery at this point š°

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

ā¢Sounds too good to be true. Are you sure it's legit?

ā¢How long did it take for them to call you back?

ā¢It took about 2 hours for me, but I've heard it can vary depending on how busy they are.

Here's what I've learned from my experience with NYDOL: ā¢ Persistence is key. Keep calling, even if it feels hopeless. ā¢ Have all your documents ready before you call. They'll ask for your SSN, claim ID, and details about your back pay. ā¢ Be polite but firm with the agent. They're dealing with a lot of frustrated people. ā¢ If you can't get through by phone, try reaching out on social media. Sometimes they respond there. ā¢ Consider contacting your local representative. They might be able to help push your case. Hope this helps! Hang in there, OP. šŖ

ā¢Great tips! I'd add: keep a log of all your calls and attempts. It might come in handy if you need to escalate your case.

Has anyone tried faxing their documents? I heard that sometimes gets a faster response.

I finally got through last week after trying for a month. Here's what worked for me: 1. Call exactly at 8:00 AM when they open 2. If you get a busy signal, hang up and immediately redial 3. Repeat step 2 until you get into the queue 4. Once in the queue, DO NOT HANG UP no matter how long it takes It took me 3 hours of waiting, but I finally got my back pay sorted. Don't give up!
