EDD Award Letter Missing - How to Get a Duplicate?
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble getting my EDD award letter. I've been trying to reach someone on the phone but no luck. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any tips on how to request a duplicate award letter? I'm kinda lost here and could use some advice.

Ugh, I feel your pain! 😫 I went through the same thing last month. Here's what worked for me: 1. Log into your EDD account 2. Go to the 'Contact Us' section 3. Look for an option to request duplicate documents 4. Fill out the form with your claim info It took about a week, but I finally got my letter. Hope this helps!

•Thanks so much! I'll give this a try. Did you have to provide any specific info when you requested it?

•Yeah, make sure you have your claim number handy. They also asked for my SSN and address to verify. Good luck!

Pro tip: if you cant get thru online, try calling right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins on hold!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video for more info: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•20 bucks tho? 😬 That's steep for a phone call...

•True, but consider how much time you'd waste trying to get through. For me, it was worth it.

Hey OP, just a heads up - make sure you check your spam folder too. My award letter ended up there somehow. EDD's emails are wild like that sometimes.

Anyone else notice that the EDD website is always "under maintenance" when you actually need to use it? 🙄

Another option that worked for me was visiting a local EDD office in person if you have one nearby. I know it's a pain, but sometimes face-to-face gets results when phone and online don't work. Bring all your docs (ID, SSN card, claim info) and they can usually print your award letter on the spot. Saved me weeks of waiting!

I'm dealing with the same issue right now! 😤 Been trying to get my award letter for two weeks. Thanks for all the helpful suggestions everyone - I'm definitely going to try the online form method that @Kirsuktow DarkBlade mentioned first, and if that doesn't work I might have to bite the bullet and try calling early morning like @Ahooker-Equator suggested. Really appreciate this community having each other's backs when dealing with EDD's mess of a system!

•@Oliver Zimmermann I m'in the exact same boat! 😩 Just started dealing with this nightmare too. It s'so frustrating that getting a simple document has to be this complicated. I m'planning to try the online form method first thing tomorrow morning - fingers crossed it works better than the phone system. Thanks for tagging the helpful folks, their advice seems solid. At least we re'not alone in this mess!

I went through this exact same situation a few months ago! What finally worked for me was a combination approach - I submitted the online request through my EDD account (like @Kirsuktow DarkBlade suggested) AND also sent a written request by mail with copies of my ID and claim number. The mail request actually got processed faster - got my letter in about 10 days. Also, pro tip: if you do decide to call, try calling on Tuesday or Wednesday around 8:02 AM (not exactly 8:00 when everyone else calls). Sometimes those couple extra minutes make a difference in getting through! Good luck @Sienna Gomez - don't give up! 💪

•This is super helpful advice! @Jacinda Yu I love the idea of doing both online AND mail requests - doubles your chances of getting a response. That timing tip for calling is genius too, never would have thought of waiting those extra 2 minutes. @Sienna Gomez definitely try the combination approach if the first methods don t work'out. It s crazy'that we have to strategize this much just to get a basic document, but at least we ve got'each other s backs'in figuring out these workarounds! 🤝

I just went through this same headache last week! What ended up working for me was actually using the EDD mobile app instead of the website - sometimes it's more stable. I logged in, went to "Forms" section, then "Request Documents" and was able to submit a request for my award letter. Got it emailed to me within 5 business days! Also, make sure your contact info is updated in your profile because they won't send it if your email/address is outdated. The app seems to have fewer glitches than the website, especially during peak hours. Hope this helps! 🤞

•Oh wow, I never even thought to try the mobile app! @Keisha Jackson That s'such a good point about it being more stable than the website. I ve'been banging my head against the wall trying to use the desktop site and it keeps timing out on me. Definitely downloading the app right now! And thanks for the reminder about updating contact info - I moved a few months ago and totally forgot to update my address in the system. You might have just saved me from wondering why I m'not getting anything! 📱✨

Just wanted to jump in here as someone who recently went through this same frustrating process! 😅 I see lots of great suggestions already, but I'll add that if you're still having trouble after trying the online methods, you can also try reaching out through EDD's Twitter/X account (@CA_EDD). I know it sounds weird, but they actually respond pretty quickly to DMs and can sometimes expedite requests or give you direct contact info for specific issues. I got a response within 2 days when I was stuck in phone/website limbo. Also, if you have any local assembly member or state senator offices, their constituent services teams can sometimes help cut through EDD red tape - it's a free service they provide. Don't lose hope @Sienna Gomez, you'll get that letter eventually! 💪

•That's brilliant advice @Amara Nwosu! 🤯 I had no idea that EDD actually responds on social media - that's honestly faster than their phone system probably! And the tip about contacting local assembly/senate offices is gold. I never would have thought elected officials could help with EDD issues, but it makes total sense that they'd have connections to cut through bureaucratic nonsense. @Sienna Gomez you ve'got so many great options to try now between all these suggestions - the mobile app, social media, elected officials, combination online/mail requests. One of these has gotta work! This community is amazing for sharing all these creative workarounds. Thanks everyone for helping each other navigate this mess! 🙏

Wow, this thread is a goldmine of helpful info! 🙌 I'm actually dealing with a similar situation right now - been waiting 3 weeks for my award letter and getting nowhere with the usual channels. I had no idea there were so many different approaches to try! Definitely going to start with the mobile app method @Keisha Jackson mentioned since the website keeps crashing on me, and if that doesn't work I'll try the social media route @Amara Nwosu suggested. It's honestly ridiculous that we need this many workarounds just to get a basic document, but I'm so grateful this community shares all these creative solutions. Thanks everyone for having each other's backs - makes dealing with EDD's broken system a little less maddening! 😊

•@Gael Robinson Right?! This thread has been such a lifesaver! 🌟 I m'also new to dealing with EDD and was feeling completely lost before reading all these suggestions. It s'crazy how many different strategies people have had to develop just to get basic services, but I love how supportive everyone is here. I m'definitely bookmarking this thread for future reference - feels like we ve'created the ultimate EDD survival guide! 😂 Good luck with your award letter quest, and thanks to everyone sharing their hard-won wisdom! 🤝

This thread is incredibly helpful! 🙏 I'm dealing with the exact same issue right now and was about to give up after weeks of trying to get through on the phone. Reading through all these creative solutions gives me hope - I had no idea there were so many different approaches to try! I'm definitely going to start with the mobile app method since my laptop keeps timing out on the EDD website, and then maybe try the combination online/mail approach if that doesn't work. It's honestly mind-blowing that we need to become EDD experts just to get a simple document, but this community sharing all these workarounds is amazing. Thanks everyone for turning this frustrating experience into something manageable! 💪

•@Chloe Harris I m'so glad this thread is helping you too! 😊 I just joined this community and I m'amazed by how supportive everyone is. It really does feel like we ve'all become EDD survival experts out of necessity! I m'in the same boat - been struggling with getting my award letter and was starting to feel hopeless until I found all these amazing suggestions. The mobile app tip sounds perfect since I ve'also been having website issues. It s'wild that we have to jump through so many hoops for something that should be straightforward, but at least we re'not figuring it out alone. Wishing you luck with your request - let us know how it goes! 🤞

Just wanted to add another option that worked for me recently! If you're still having trouble with all the digital methods, try calling your local disability office (not the main EDD line) - they often have direct connections to EDD systems and can sometimes pull up your award letter right away or fast-track a request. I found my local office number on the CA.gov website and they were way more helpful than the general EDD phone line. Also, if you're working with any disability advocates or social workers, they sometimes have special contact numbers that bypass the usual phone maze. The whole system is frustrating but don't give up - there are definitely people out there who want to help! 💪

•@Harmony Love That s'such a great tip about calling local disability offices directly! 💡 I never would have thought they d'have better connections than the main EDD line, but it makes total sense that they d'have more direct access. This whole thread has been like a masterclass in navigating bureaucracy - between the mobile app, social media outreach, local offices, and advocacy connections, we ve'basically crowdsourced the ultimate guide to getting EDD to actually respond! It s'honestly both impressive and depressing that we ve'had to get this creative just to access basic services, but I m'so grateful for communities like this where people share their hard-won knowledge. Thanks for adding another valuable option to the toolkit! 🙌

Just wanted to share my experience since I went through this exact same nightmare about 6 months ago! 😤 After trying everything - phone calls, website crashes, you name it - what finally worked for me was going through my local state assembly representative's office. I know it sounds like overkill for an award letter, but their constituent services team has direct contacts at EDD and can actually get things moving. I filled out a simple form on their website explaining my situation, and they had my award letter sorted within a week! Also, if you're still struggling with the online methods, try clearing your browser cache completely or using a different browser altogether - sometimes the EDD website gets weird with stored data. And definitely try the mobile app approach others mentioned - it's surprisingly more reliable than the desktop site. Hang in there @Sienna Gomez! I know it's incredibly frustrating, but between all the amazing suggestions in this thread, something's bound to work. This community really shows how we have to stick together to navigate these broken systems! 🤝

•@Liam McConnell This is such valuable insight! 🙏 I m'actually new to dealing with EDD issues and had no idea that state assembly representatives could help with stuff like this. It s'kind of sad that we have to escalate to elected officials just to get a basic document, but honestly if it works, it works! The browser cache tip is also really helpful - I ve'been having weird glitches with the EDD site and never thought to try a completely clean browser session. This whole thread has been like getting a crash course in EDD navigation from people who ve'been through the trenches. Thanks for sharing your success story - it gives me hope that there really are ways to get through this bureaucratic maze! @Sienna Gomez you ve got'so many solid options to try now! 💪

Just wanted to jump in as someone who's been lurking here for a while but finally had to create an account because this thread is SO helpful! 😭 I'm dealing with the exact same award letter nightmare right now and honestly was starting to panic because I need it for other benefits applications. Reading through all these creative solutions has given me so much hope! I love how this community has basically created the ultimate EDD survival guide between the mobile app trick, social media outreach, local assembly offices, and all the phone timing strategies. It's honestly both amazing and depressing that we've had to become this resourceful just to get basic government services, but I'm so grateful for everyone sharing their hard-won knowledge! I'm definitely going to start with the mobile app approach since my laptop keeps freezing on the EDD website, and if that doesn't work I'll try the combination method with both online and mail requests. Thanks everyone for proving that we don't have to suffer through this broken system alone! 🙌

•Welcome to the community @Daniel Rivera! 👋 I totally feel you on the panic about needing that award letter for other benefits - it's like one bureaucratic bottleneck creates a domino effect with everything else you're trying to get done. This thread really has become the ultimate EDD hack collection! I'm also pretty new to dealing with all this and was feeling completely overwhelmed before finding this goldmine of advice. The mobile app approach seems to be working for a lot of people, so that's probably a smart place to start. And don't feel bad about lurking - I think we've all been there trying to figure this system out! It's wild that we basically need a PhD in government bureaucracy just to get basic services, but at least we've got each other's backs. Good luck with your award letter quest - you've got this! 💪
