If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

Hi Anumol! You may be eligible for CA SDI benefits using the Alternative Base Period (ABP) since you don't have earnings in the standard base period but will have recent W2 earnings and contributions. Here's what you need to know: **Eligibility Requirements:** - You need at least $300 in SDI contributions during the ABP (your most recent 4 completed quarters) - Since you started in July '25 and are due in Dec '25, you should meet the contribution requirement **How to Apply:** 1. You cannot file online initially for ABP - you'll need to call EDD at 1-800-480-3287 2. Request that they process your claim using the Alternative Base Period 3. They'll need to manually review your recent earnings and contributions 4. Have your pay stubs ready showing SDI deductions **Timeline:** - Apply 4 weeks before your due date or when you stop working due to pregnancy - ABP claims take longer to process since they require manual review **Important:** Make sure your doctor completes the medical certification form properly, as pregnancy claims require specific documentation about your disability period. Good luck with your claim and congratulations on your pregnancy!

@Mei Lin Hi Mei, Thank you for the detailed answer. Would it be better if I did the paperwork and applied through the mail than online? I have read some comments in this forum where that has worked for folks. Everytime I try calling that number, I get disconnected after a long wait.

@Anumol Nair @Mei Lin Yes, mailing your application can actually be more effective for ABP claims! Here s what'I d recommend:'**Mail Application Process:** 1. Download form DE 2501 Claim for (Disability Insurance Benefits from EDD) s website'2. In the Remarks section, "write" in bold: REQUEST ALTERNATIVE "BASE PERIOD - NO EARNINGS IN STANDARD BASE PERIOD 3. Include" a cover letter explaining your situation and specifically requesting ABP consideration 4. Attach recent pay stubs showing SDI deductions **Mail to:** Employment Development Department Disability Insurance Branch P.O. Box 989011 West Sacramento, CA 95798-9011 **Pro Tips:** - Send via certified mail for tracking - Keep copies of everything - Follow up with a call in 2-3 weeks if you don t hear'back - Try calling early morning 8 AM (for better) chance of getting through Many people have had success with the mail route, especially when they clearly indicate ABP on the application. The phone lines are notoriously difficult, so don t feel'bad about that route not working! The processing time might be similar either way, but at least with mail you know your request is properly documented from the start.

UPDATE: The money just showed up on my old unemployment card! It took exactly 2 business days after the payment was issued according to the SDI Online portal. No new card needed! Thanks everyone for your help, this community is amazing!

Great news! Glad it worked out and you didn't have to wait for a new card. Thanks for coming back to update us!

That's awesome news! Thanks for updating us - this is exactly the kind of info that helps other people in similar situations. It's great to know that for someone who had UI end in 2021, the old card still worked for SDI payments in 2025. This thread is going to be super helpful for future reference!

So helpful to have this confirmation! I'm in a similar boat - my UI ended in 2022 and I just applied for SDI. This gives me hope that my old card will still work too. Really appreciate you taking the time to update everyone with the outcome!

Just a heads up - if you're also getting any other benefits (like workers comp), make sure to report that. It can affect your SDI amount and you don't want to deal with overpayment issues later!

Thanks for starting this thread! I'm in the same boat - just got my Notice of Computation yesterday and it's like reading a foreign language. The amount they calculated seems way different from what I was expecting based on my previous earnings. From what I can tell, they're using some quarters from way back when I was making less money instead of my recent higher-paying job. Is that normal? I thought they'd use the most recent quarters where I was earning more. Really hoping someone here can shed some light on how they actually pick which quarters to use for the calculation! šŸ¤ž

Welcome to the confusion club! šŸ˜… From what I understand, they don't always use your most recent quarters - they use what's called your "base period" which is usually the first 4 of the last 5 completed quarters before you filed your claim. So if you just started a higher-paying job recently, those quarters might not be included yet. It's super frustrating when you know you were earning more! You might want to double-check the dates on your notice to see exactly which quarters they used.

@Amina Diallo That s'exactly what happened to me! They used quarters from when I was working part-time instead of my recent full-time salary. It s'so backwards! I called and they explained that they have to use completed "quarters," so if you filed mid-quarter, that quarter doesn t'count. Super annoying when you re'making good money but it doesn t'help your benefits. The system really needs an update imo šŸ™„

I'm dealing with something similar right now! My SDI payments stopped suddenly in early October after 2 months of regular payments. Like you, my doctor certified me well beyond when the payments stopped, and my claim status still shows "Active" online. I've been trying the early morning calling strategy mentioned by @Ava Thompson - got through once after 45 minutes of calling at 8:02 AM, but the rep just said there was a "processing delay" with no timeline. It's so stressful when you're already dealing with health issues and then have to worry about basic expenses. I'm going to try calling my doctor's office today to see if EDD requested any additional paperwork from them. Fingers crossed we both get this resolved soon!

@Yara Sabbagh I m'so sorry you re'going through this too! It s'awful how they leave us in the dark when we re'already vulnerable. I m'definitely going to try that early morning calling strategy - 8:02 AM sounds like a good time to catch them. Let me know what your doctor s'office says about any additional paperwork requests. I m'planning to call mine tomorrow too. It really helps to know I m'not the only one dealing with this nightmare right now. Hoping we both get answers soon! šŸ¤ž

I'm new to this community but unfortunately dealing with the exact same issue! My SDI payments stopped after my September payment too, even though my doctor certified me through December. What's really frustrating is that I called my doctor's office yesterday and they confirmed they haven't received ANY requests from EDD for additional documentation. The office manager told me this has been happening to a lot of their patients lately - payments just stopping without explanation. She suggested I might need to file an appeal or contact the EDD Disability Appeals Office directly. Has anyone here tried that route? I'm wondering if there's some kind of systematic issue happening right now that's affecting multiple people. The timing can't be a coincidence that so many of us had payments stop around the same time.

UPDATE: Just wanted to thank everyone for the help! I checked my Payment Activity section like suggested and it shows my next payment is scheduled for this Thursday! No email notification yet, but at least now I know it's coming. Such a relief!

That's great news! Now you know to check that section every couple weeks. In my experience, once the payment schedule gets established, it stays pretty consistent unless something changes with your claim.

Yes! I'm definitely going to check that section regularly instead of waiting for emails. Such a relief to have some predictability now.

Great to see you got it figured out! For future reference, I've found that EDD SDI payments typically process on the same day of the week once your cycle is established. Since yours is showing Thursday, you can probably expect future payments every other Thursday going forward. One tip that saved me a lot of stress - I set a recurring calendar reminder for the day before my expected payment to check the Payment Activity section. That way I'm not constantly refreshing my account or worrying about missed emails. The system may be clunky, but once you learn to work around the notification issues, it becomes much more manageable. Glad you can breathe easier about rent now!

That's such a smart idea about setting a calendar reminder! I'm definitely going to do that. It's so helpful to hear from people who've been through this before - makes the whole process feel less overwhelming. Thanks for the tip!
