Anyone received their extra CalFresh emergency allotment for May 2025 yet?

Has anyone gotten their extra CalFresh emergency allotment this month yet? My regular benefits loaded on the 10th like usual, but I thought the extra amount was supposed to come 2 days later (on the 12th). It's already the 15th and still nothing showing up on my EBT card. I'm in Sacramento County if that matters. Getting worried because my kids are home for summer break and I was counting on that extra $340 for groceries. The county office automated line just says 'payments are being processed' but no specific date!

Wait what extra allotment?? I didn't hear anything about extra CalFresh this month. Are you talking about the summer P-EBT for kids maybe?

No, not P-EBT. The emergency supplement they announced last month because of the flooding in Northern California. They said all households would get at least $250 extra regardless of benefit amount since it was declared a state emergency.

The emergency allotments are being issued on a rolling schedule this month due to the system updates they're doing. According to the notification on BenefitsCal, Sacramento County is scheduled for the 17th-19th. They're not doing the usual 2-day after regular benefits anymore. You should see it by this weekend at the latest.

Thank you!!! I must have missed that notification. Is that on the app or the website? I usually just check my balance through the EBT app.

It's on the main BenefitsCal website when you log in - there's a yellow alert banner at the top with the updated schedule. The EBT app doesn't show these administrative announcements unfortunately. They also sent paper notices but you know how mail can be...

That's definitely not true about the alphabetical order. I've been on CalFresh for 3 years now and the emergency allotments are distributed by case number groups. Your case number ends with certain digits, that determines your issuance date. It has nothing to do with your name.

Just so everyone knows, if you need to actually TALK to someone at the CalFresh office instead of getting stuck in automated hell, I've been using this service called Claimyr. You go to claimyr.com and they call the CalFresh office for you, wait on hold, and then call you when a real person is on the line. Saved me like 2 hours of hold time last week when I needed to sort out my recertification issue. They have a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8

Does that actually work? I've been trying to reach someone about my SAR7 for days and keep getting disconnected after 45 minutes on hold

Yes it definitely works! That's exactly what happened to me - kept getting disconnected after like an hour on hold. With Claimyr I was able to get through to a real person without sitting on hold. The worker even commented that the wait times were crazy because of the emergency allotment questions.

I work for a community organization that partners with CalFresh, and I can confirm that the emergency allotments for May 2025 are being distributed on a different schedule due to the system updates. Sacramento County is scheduled for May 17-19 as someone else mentioned. Additionally, the amount varies based on your household size and current benefit amount - not everyone will receive exactly $250 or $340. The minimum supplement is $250, but larger households may receive more. The emergency allotment will bring you up to the maximum benefit amount for your household size plus the additional supplement. For anyone who has urgent food needs before their emergency allotment arrives, please contact your local food bank or call 211 for information about emergency food resources in your area.

Thank you for this clear information! Do you know if they'll send a text notification when it's deposited like they do with regular benefits? I'm trying not to keep checking my balance every few hours.

Yes, if you're signed up for EBT text alerts, you should receive a notification when the emergency allotment is deposited to your account. If you're not getting text notifications, you can sign up by calling the number on the back of your EBT card or through your BenefitsCal account under communication preferences.

My county worker told me that u need to have submitted ur SAR7 on time to get the emergency allotment!!!!! I was late with mine last month and she said im not eligible. Has anyone else heard this??

That's not accurate information. The emergency allotment due to the flooding disaster declaration is available to all active CalFresh recipients regardless of reporting status. The only requirement is that you have an active case for the month of May 2025. Your worker might be confusing this with the regular CalFresh rules. If your case is active (even if you submitted your SAR7 late but it was processed), you should still receive the emergency allotment.
