Will I get my unemployment today - Washington ESD payment timing question
Filed my weekly claim on Sunday night and it's Wednesday now. My claim status shows 'paid' but I haven't seen the money hit my account yet. Usually it comes on Tuesday but nothing today. Does anyone know if Washington ESD is running behind on payments this week? I really need this to clear today for rent.

Payments usually process 1-2 business days after your claim shows 'paid' status. If you filed Sunday night, Tuesday or Wednesday would be normal. Check your payment method - direct deposit is faster than the debit card.

•I have direct deposit set up. Just weird because it's usually so consistent on Tuesdays.

There have been some delays lately with Washington ESD payments. I'd give it until tomorrow before worrying. The system has been having issues since they updated something last month.

If you're having trouble getting through to Washington ESD about payment delays, I found this service called Claimyr that helps you actually reach an agent. They have a website at claimyr.com and there's a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ showing how it works. Saved me hours of calling.

•How much does it cost? I'm already broke waiting for this payment.

•It's worth it if you really need to talk to someone. Way better than spending all day calling and getting hung up on.

THE SYSTEM IS ALWAYS BROKEN! I've been waiting 3 days for my payment and Washington ESD doesn't care. They just keep telling us to wait while we can't pay our bills!!!

•I understand the frustration but 3 days isn't that unusual. The processing time varies.

•Easy for you to say when you're not about to get evicted

•Just checked and still nothing. What bank do you use?

•Chase. Sometimes different banks process at different times

I work at a bank and can tell you that ACH transfers from government agencies usually hit accounts between 3-6 AM. If it's not there by now, it's probably coming tomorrow.

•That's actually really helpful to know the timing. Thank you!

Did you make sure there weren't any issues with your job search activities? Sometimes they hold payments if there's a problem with your job contacts.

Oliver Wagner
•Yeah I logged all my job searches in WorkSourceWA like I'm supposed to. Status just says paid.

•Then it should be fine. Just the normal processing delay probably.

This happened to me last month and I was freaking out. Turned out my bank was doing maintenance and delayed all ACH transfers by a day. Might want to call your bank too.

•Good point, I'll call them if it doesn't show up by tomorrow morning.

•Yeah bank maintenance can definitely cause delays with government payments.

Are you sure your direct deposit info is correct in your Washington ESD account? I had a friend who had one wrong digit and it took weeks to figure out.

•I've been getting payments fine for months so the info should be right.

•Ok just checking, that would be a nightmare to deal with

Wednesday is still pretty normal for payments. I wouldn't worry unless it's Friday and still nothing.

•Thanks, trying not to panic but rent is due tomorrow.

•The timing is always terrible with these payments and rent due dates

I used Claimyr when I had payment issues last year. Really helped me get through to someone who could check my account. The video demo they have shows exactly how it works - pretty simple.

•Seems like a lot of people are recommending this. I might try it if the payment doesn't come tomorrow.

•Yeah I've heard good things about it too. Beats spending hours on hold.

Check your spam folder too sometimes the payment notifications end up there and you think it hasn't processed yet.

•Just checked and nothing there either. Good suggestion though.

My sister works for Washington ESD and she says they've been having some technical issues with the payment system. Nothing major but causing 1-2 day delays for some people.

Oliver Wagner
•Oh that explains it then. At least I know it's not just me.

•That matches what I heard about system updates causing problems.

You could try logging into your Washington ESD account and looking at the payment history. Sometimes it shows more details about when it was actually sent.

Oliver Wagner
•Good idea, let me check that now.

Oliver Wagner
•It shows payment date as yesterday but no time. Guess I just have to wait.

I had the same thing happen and ended up calling Washington ESD. Took forever to get through but they confirmed it was processed and just delayed. Might be worth a try if you're really worried.

Oliver Wagner
•How long did it take you to get through? I've tried calling before and it's impossible.

Luca Romano
•About 2 hours of calling back. That's why people use services like Claimyr now.

Is this your first time having a delay? If you've been getting payments regularly, it's probably just a processing hiccup.
0 coins
Oliver Wagner
•Yeah first time it's been this late. Usually right on schedule.

Nia Jackson
•Then I wouldn't worry too much. The system is generally reliable.

Try checking your account balance online or calling your bank's automated line. Sometimes the money is there but the mobile app doesn't update right away.

•Just called and still nothing. Hopefully tomorrow morning.

•Yeah that's probably when it'll hit. Hang in there.

For what it's worth, I've never had a payment just disappear from Washington ESD. If it shows paid, it's coming. Just might take an extra day or two.

•That's reassuring, thank you. I'll try to be patient.

•Same here, they're slow but reliable with payments.

UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know my payment came through this morning! Thanks for all the advice and reassurance. Guess it was just the system delays people mentioned.
