Weekly claim approved Saturday, paid Monday - how long until KeyBank deposits backpay?
Big relief - my ESD claim was FINALLY approved this past Saturday after being stuck in adjudication hell for weeks! I saw all my backpay was paid out Monday (almost $4,900!). I filed my weekly claim Sunday right at midnight and it's showing as 'paid' in the system now too. For anyone with KeyBank ReliaCard, how long does it usually take for the money to actually hit your account? I've got rent due Thursday and need to prioritize which bills to pay first. This is my first time getting unemployment and I'm trying to budget carefully until I find something new after my company's surprise layoffs.

KeyBank usually posts ESD payments within 1-2 business days after it shows 'paid' in the system. So if it showed paid on Monday, you should see it by Wednesday at the latest. For future reference, weekly claims filed Sunday night typically process Monday and deposit Tuesday or Wednesday. Congrats on finally getting through adjudication!

•Thank you!!! Wednesday would be perfect timing. Did your first payment take longer than regular weekly payments? Just wondering if there's extra processing time when it's a big backpay amount.

•Thanks for the info! I'll keep checking tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed it comes through before rent is due.

In my experience, KeyBank is pretty consistent with ESD deposits. Your backpay will likely arrive Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning. One thing to keep in mind - your first payment might have taxes withheld if you selected that option when filing. Also, make sure your ReliaCard is activated if this is your first payment. You should have received it in the mail within 7-10 days of initially filing your claim.

•Oh shoot, I forgot about taxes! I did select to have them withheld. And yes, I got my ReliaCard last week and activated it right away. Thanks for the reminder about taxes though - I need to adjust my budget calculations.

BE CAREFUL with KeyBank! They sometimes hold large deposits for "verification" especially first-time large deposits. My $6,800 backpay was held for 5 DAYS before I could access it!!! Had to call them 3 times and they kept saying "processing" or something. Meanwhile my landlord was threatening eviction!!! ESD should dump KeyBank and use a better bank!!!

•Are you serious?? That's horrifying - I literally can't wait 5 days. Did calling them help speed it up at all? Should I call KeyBank proactively to warn them about the deposit?

I've been using KeyBank for my unemployment for about 7 months now. Here's my experience: 1. Regular weekly payments: If it shows paid in ESD on Monday, it's in KeyBank Tuesday morning by 8am consistently. 2. Large backpay amounts: These CAN sometimes take an extra day, but not always. When I got $3,200 in backpay, it came through normal timing. 3. Long weekend/holidays: Add an extra day for processing. One tip - set up text alerts in your KeyBank account so you know exactly when money hits. That way you don't have to keep checking.

•This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I'll set up those text alerts right now. Good to hear that not everyone has delays with larger amounts.

If you are having trouble reaching ESD to check on your payments, I recently used a service called Claimyr that got me through to an ESD agent in under 15 minutes after I had been trying for days. They have a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 and their website is claimyr.com. Saved me a ton of stress when I was trying to figure out why my payment was pending for an extra week.

•Thanks for the suggestion! I might need this if the payment doesn't show up when expected. Did you find the ESD agent was able to actually help once you got through?

•Yes, the agent I spoke with could see exactly where my payment was in the system and why it was delayed. They fixed it while I was on the phone. Much better than waiting for an email response that never comes.

Just wondering - how long were you in adjudication before getting approved? I'm going on week 6 and losing my mind. My bills are piling up and I can't get anyone on the phone.

•I was in adjudication for almost 9 weeks! It was absolutely nerve-wracking. I uploaded all my termination paperwork and separation details through the document upload portal, which might have helped. I also messaged them through eServices every week (politely) asking for an update. Hang in there - I know how stressful it is.
