Need the unemployment office phone number - Washington ESD contact info
Does anyone have the direct phone number for the Washington ESD unemployment office? I've been looking all over their website and can't find a simple phone number to call about my claim. My weekly claim has been pending for over a week and I need to talk to someone about what's going on. The website is confusing and I just want to speak to a real person.

The main Washington ESD customer service number is 800-318-6022. But fair warning - you're going to be on hold for hours. I called yesterday and waited 3 hours before getting through.

•3 hours?? That's insane. Do they have any other numbers or better times to call?

•I tried calling at 8am sharp when they open and still waited 2 hours. The system is just overwhelmed.

There's also 855-682-0785 but that's basically the same line. I've been trying to reach them about my adjudication for weeks. The hold music is burned into my brain at this point lol

•What's your adjudication about? Mine just says pending with no explanation.

•They're reviewing my job separation. My former employer is claiming I quit but I was actually laid off. It's been 3 weeks now.

I found this service called Claimyr that actually helps you get through to Washington ESD agents. I was skeptical at first but it worked for me last month. You go to claimyr.com and they handle the calling for you. There's a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works. Saved me literally hours of waiting on hold.

•Is that legit? How does it work exactly?

•Yeah it's real. They basically keep calling Washington ESD for you and then conference you in when they get an agent on the line. Much better than sitting there listening to hold music all day.

•I used Claimyr too after seeing it mentioned here. Got through to an agent in about 45 minutes instead of the usual 3+ hour wait. Worth checking out for sure.

The phone system is absolutely broken. I've called 800-318-6022 probably 50 times in the past month and either get disconnected or wait forever. How is this acceptable for people who need their benefits?

•It's ridiculous. People are struggling to pay rent and buy food while Washington ESD can't even answer their phones.

•The staffing issues got worse after COVID. They're supposedly hiring more people but it's not helping yet.

Pro tip: if you call exactly at 8:00 AM when they open, you might have better luck. Set multiple alarms and start dialing right at 8. Still took me 90 minutes but better than calling later in the day.

•Good idea, I'll try that tomorrow morning. What do I need to have ready when I call?

•Have your Social Security number, claim confirmation number, and any documents related to your issue. They'll ask for your SSN right away to verify your identity.

Another option is the Washington ESD website chat feature, but that's usually offline or has a huge queue too. The whole system needs an overhaul.

Freya Pedersen
•I tried the chat yesterday and it said 'currently unavailable' all day.

Luca Romano
•Yeah the chat is hit or miss. Usually only works during business hours and even then it's spotty.

I've had better luck calling the technical support line at 855-682-0785 for account issues. Sometimes they can help with basic claim questions too.

Freya Pedersen
•What kind of account issues do they handle on that line?

•Password resets, login problems, that sort of thing. But they've helped me with simple claim status questions before too.

Just went through this whole ordeal last week. Called 800-318-6022 about 20 times over 3 days before getting through. The agent was actually really helpful once I finally reached someone. My advice is to be persistent and keep trying.

•What did you need help with? Was it worth the wait?

•I had an overpayment notice that was wrong. The agent fixed it immediately once I explained the situation. Definitely worth it in the end.

If you're calling about a specific issue like adjudication or an appeal, make sure you have all your paperwork ready. They'll want dates, claim numbers, and specific details about your situation.

Freya Pedersen
•Good point. I should probably write down all my questions before I call too.

Mateo Hernandez
•Exactly! Make a list of everything you need to ask. Once you get through you don't want to waste time trying to remember what you needed help with.

The callback feature on their website never works for me. It always says they'll call within 2 business days but I never hear back. Phone calls are really the only reliable way to reach them.

Freya Pedersen
•There's a callback feature? Where do you find that on the website?

•It's buried in the contact section but like I said, it doesn't actually work. Save yourself the trouble and just call directly.

I used that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier and it actually worked great. Got connected to a Washington ESD agent in about 30 minutes. Much better than the hours I've wasted on hold before.

•That's the second person who mentioned Claimyr. I might have to check it out if I can't get through tomorrow.

•Yeah it's worth trying. The video demo shows exactly how it works so you know what to expect.

Make sure you call from a phone that can stay connected for hours. I made the mistake of calling from my work phone and had to hang up for a meeting after waiting 2 hours. Use your personal cell or home phone.

Freya Pedersen
•Good thinking. I'll make sure my phone is fully charged too.

•And have a charger handy! Nothing worse than your phone dying while you're on hold.

The automated system will try to help you first before connecting to an agent. Press 0 or say 'representative' to skip that and get in the queue for a real person.

Freya Pedersen
•Thanks for the tip! I hate navigating those automated menus.

Carmen Lopez
•Yeah the automated system can't help with most real issues anyway. Better to go straight to a human.

If you're calling about a pending weekly claim, they might be able to process it while you're on the phone. Happened to me once - saved me from waiting another week for payment.

Freya Pedersen
•That would be amazing. My claim has been pending for over a week now.

•Definitely mention that when you get through. Sometimes it's just a simple verification issue they can fix immediately.

The Washington ESD office hours are 8 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday. Don't bother calling outside those hours - you'll just get a recording.

Freya Pedersen
•Good to know. I was wondering if they had weekend hours.
0 coins
Andre Dupont
•Nope, strictly business hours. And they're closed on state holidays too.

I've found that calling around lunch time (12-1 PM) sometimes has shorter wait times. Maybe people are eating lunch instead of calling? Just a theory but it's worked for me a couple times.

Freya Pedersen
•Interesting theory! I'll try different times and see if that makes a difference.

•It's worth experimenting. Every little bit helps when you're trying to avoid those 3+ hour waits.

Don't forget to take notes during your call! Write down the agent's name, any reference numbers they give you, and exactly what they told you. You might need that information later.

Freya Pedersen
•Great advice. I should probably have a pen and paper ready before I call.

Jamal Wilson
•Exactly! And if they make any changes to your claim, ask for a confirmation number or reference number for your records.

The main number 800-318-6022 is your best bet for claim issues. Just be prepared to wait. I usually put it on speaker and do other things while I wait. Good luck!
