What's the number for unemployment - Washington ESD phone contact info?
I need to call Washington ESD about my unemployment claim but I can't find the right phone number anywhere. Their website has like 10 different numbers and I don't know which one to use. I've been trying to reach them for days about my weekly claim that got rejected. Does anyone know the actual number that gets you to a real person who can help with claim issues?

The main Washington ESD customer service number is 800-318-6022 but good luck getting through. I've been calling for 3 weeks straight and either get busy signals or they hang up on me after waiting 2 hours on hold.

•That's exactly what's been happening to me! I'll wait forever and then suddenly the line goes dead. So frustrating.

•Try calling right at 8am when they open. Sometimes you can get through before the lines get completely jammed.

There's also 833-572-8400 for technical issues with your account, and 855-682-0785 for job search requirements. But honestly, all these numbers are swamped. The wait times are insane and half the time you get disconnected anyway.

•I tried the 833 number yesterday and waited 3 hours before giving up. This is ridiculous.

•Same experience here. The system is completely overwhelmed and they don't have enough staff to handle the call volume.

I actually found something that worked for me after weeks of trying to get through to Washington ESD. There's this service called Claimyr that basically handles the calling for you. You just tell them what you need help with and they get you connected to an actual agent. Check out claimyr.com - they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows exactly how it works.

•Wait, really? How does that even work? Do they actually get you through to Washington ESD or is this some kind of scam?

Sergio Neal
•No it's legit - they basically do all the calling and waiting for you, then connect you when they get an agent on the line. I was skeptical too but it actually worked. Got through in like 20 minutes instead of spending all day redialing.

•This sounds too good to be true but I'm desperate at this point. Going to check out that video demo.

I've been dealing with this for months. The regular customer service line 800-318-6022 is your best bet but you literally have to treat it like a full time job. I keep a spreadsheet of when I call and how long I wait. Best times seem to be Tuesday/Wednesday mornings right at 8am.

•You keep a spreadsheet?? That's dedication but also really sad that it's come to this.

•Trust me, I hate that I have to do this but it's the only way to track patterns. I've noticed Mondays and Fridays are absolutely hopeless.

The phone system is broken by design. They don't want you to call because they're understaffed and overwhelmed. Try using the secure messaging system on your eServices account first - sometimes you can get issues resolved that way without having to call.

•I tried that but they took 2 weeks to respond and the answer was just 'call customer service' which brings me back to square one.

•Same here. The messaging system is useless for anything urgent.

For what it's worth, I've had better luck with the 833-572-8400 technical line when my issue was account related. They seem to have shorter wait times than the main customer service number.

•Good point - if your issue is more technical (like account lockouts or password problems) the tech line might be faster.

•My issue is with a rejected weekly claim so I probably need the main customer service line.

I finally got through last week after trying for a month. The agent told me they're getting over 100,000 calls per day and only have capacity for about 15,000. The math just doesn't work. No wonder everyone's frustrated.

•Those numbers are insane. How is the system supposed to function with that kind of overload?
0 coins
Esteban Tate
•It's not supposed to function. That's the point. They're hoping people will just give up and stop calling.

Has anyone tried calling the local WorkSource offices? Sometimes they can help with basic unemployment questions without having to go through the main Washington ESD line.

•I didn't know they could help with UI claims. Do you have a number for them?

•You can find your local WorkSource office on the website. They can't do everything but they can help with job search requirements and basic account issues.

Just want to say that Claimyr thing someone mentioned earlier actually worked for me too. I was skeptical but after 3 weeks of not getting through on my own, I tried it and got connected to an agent the same day. Definitely worth checking out if you're stuck.

•Ok now I'm really curious about this service. How much does it cost?

•I'm not sure about pricing but honestly after losing weeks of time calling myself, it was worth whatever they charge. My time is valuable too.

The customer service line 800-318-6022 is still your best bet but you need to be strategic. Call right at 8am, have your Social Security number and claim confirmation number ready, and be prepared to wait. Don't hang up even if it seems hopeless.

•I've tried calling at 8am but I can never get through. The busy signal starts immediately.

•Keep hitting redial. Sometimes it takes 50+ attempts but eventually you'll get into the queue.

This whole situation is ridiculous. We pay into the unemployment system and then can't even get help when we need it. The phone system is completely broken and they act like it's our fault for calling.

Esteban Tate
•Exactly. It's like they designed the system to make people give up.

•The system worked fine before COVID but they never scaled up to handle the increased volume.

I've been calling Washington ESD for 2 months about an adjudication issue. Finally got through using that Claimyr service someone mentioned. The agent was able to see exactly what was holding up my claim and got it resolved in 10 minutes. Wish I'd known about it sooner.

•That's it, I'm definitely trying Claimyr. This is exactly the kind of issue I'm dealing with.

•How long did it take them to get you connected to an agent?

•About 25 minutes. Way better than the hours I was spending trying to call myself.

For anyone still struggling with the phone system, I found that calling the Spanish language line sometimes has shorter wait times. Even if you don't speak Spanish, they usually have bilingual agents who can help in English.

Ivanna St. Pierre
•That's actually a good tip. What's the Spanish line number?
0 coins
Morita Montoya
•It's 800-318-6022 but press 2 for Spanish instead of 1 for English. Worth a try if you're desperate.

I work in customer service and I can tell you that Washington ESD's phone system is probably configured to drop calls after a certain wait time to manage capacity. That's why you get disconnected after waiting for hours.
0 coins
Alice Pierce
•That's infuriating. So they're literally designed to hang up on people?

•It's a common practice when call volume exceeds capacity. Not defending it, just explaining why it happens.

Quick update - I finally got through to Washington ESD yesterday after 6 weeks of trying. The agent was actually really helpful once I got connected. My advice is don't give up, but also consider using tools like Claimyr to save your sanity.

Freya Ross
•What did you end up doing? Call the regular number or use Claimyr?

•I tried both but Claimyr got me through faster. The regular number is still nearly impossible.

Just a heads up that the phone lines are completely jammed on Mondays and right after holidays. If you can wait until Tuesday or Wednesday, you'll have better luck getting through to Washington ESD.

•Good to know. I was wondering why Mondays seemed especially bad.

•This matches what I've been tracking in my spreadsheet. Mondays are definitely the worst.

I hate that we have to jump through all these hoops just to get basic help with our unemployment claims. The system is broken and they know it but don't seem to care enough to fix it.

•It's frustrating but at least there are workarounds like Claimyr now. Better than nothing.

•The fact that we need workarounds shows how broken the system is in the first place.

For anyone still looking for the numbers: Main customer service is 800-318-6022, technical support is 833-572-8400, and job search issues is 855-682-0785. But honestly, save yourself the headache and just use Claimyr if you need to actually talk to someone.

•Same here. The regular phone system is just too frustrating to deal with.

Final thought - the Washington ESD phone system is overwhelmed but the agents are actually helpful when you do get through. The problem is the system, not the people. Don't take your frustration out on the agents when you finally connect.

•Good reminder. It's not their fault the phone system is broken.

•Absolutely. The agents are doing their best with a broken system.

Hope this thread helps people. The main takeaway is that yes, the phone numbers exist, but no, you probably won't get through using traditional methods. Services like Claimyr exist because the regular system doesn't work for most people.
