Hang in there OP. I know it's stressful but the appeal process does work when you have a legitimate case. Sounds like your employer made an error in how they reported your separation.
For what it's worth, voluntary quit disputes tend to move a bit faster than some other types of appeals because the facts are usually more straightforward. Still takes forever though.
This is why I'm scared to ever quit a job even when it's awful. The uncertainty of whether you'll get benefits is terrifying.
Final thought - when you are ready to file and need to speak with Washington ESD about your specific medical situation, remember that Claimyr service can help you actually get through to talk to someone. Medical leave cases often need that personal touch from an ESD agent to get processed correctly.
Hope your surgery goes well and recovery is smooth! The unemployment stuff will work itself out once you're healthy again.

I was in adjudication for weeks because I was honest about being selective in my job search. Turned out fine in the end, but it delayed my benefits significantly.

•I mentioned in my initial interview that I was looking for the 'right opportunity' and they flagged it as potentially not being available for work. Just be careful how you phrase things.

•This is exactly the kind of situation where talking to a Washington ESD rep through Claimyr could help clarify the right way to present your job search approach.

Thanks everyone for all the helpful information! I feel much more confident about filing for benefits now. Going to get my initial claim submitted this week and start documenting my job search activities properly.
