What is the Washington ESD unemployment office phone number - can't find it anywhere
I've been searching everywhere for the actual phone number to call Washington ESD about my unemployment claim and I'm getting so frustrated. The website has like 10 different numbers and I don't know which one is the right one to call. My claim has been pending for 2 weeks and I need to talk to someone about what's going on. Can someone please tell me the correct number to call? I've tried a few different ones but keep getting busy signals or automated messages that don't help.

The main Washington ESD customer service number is 800-318-6022. That's the one you want for claim issues. But honestly, good luck getting through - I've been trying for days and it's always busy.

•Thank you! I'll try that number. How long have you been trying to get through?

•About a week now. I call first thing in the morning and throughout the day but no luck so far.

Yeah that's the right number but prepare to spend your entire day trying to get through. The phone system is absolutely terrible. I must have called 200+ times before I finally got someone on the line.

•200 times?! That's insane. There has to be a better way to reach them.

•Unfortunately that's pretty normal. Washington ESD is severely understaffed and the call volume is ridiculous.

I was in the same boat trying to reach Washington ESD about my adjudication that had been stuck for weeks. After calling hundreds of times with no luck, I found this service called Claimyr that actually got me through to an agent. You can check it out at claimyr.com - they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ showing how it works. Basically they handle all the calling for you and connect you when they get an agent on the line.

•That sounds too good to be true. How much does it cost?

•It's definitely worth it compared to wasting entire days trying to call yourself. The peace of mind alone is huge.

•I'm skeptical of any service that charges to help with unemployment stuff. Isn't that kind of predatory?

For what it's worth, there are also some specific department numbers depending on your issue. If you're having trouble with your weekly claim certification, there's a separate line for that. If it's about job search requirements, that's another department. The main 800-318-6022 number should be able to transfer you though.

•My issue is that my claim just shows 'pending' and I don't know why. Would the main number be best for that?
0 coins
Zara Rashid
•Yes, that's exactly what the main customer service line handles. Pending claims usually need adjudication review.

ugh same problem here, been trying to call for DAYS and cant get thru. this is so frustrating when you need help with your claim

•Right? It's like they don't want us to be able to reach them.

•That's exactly how I felt before I tried Claimyr. Now I don't have to waste my time calling over and over.

Just an FYI - I've heard the best times to call are right when they open at 8am or during lunch time around 12-1pm. The call volume is supposedly lower then, but I still haven't had any luck.

•I'll try calling at 8am sharp tomorrow. Hopefully that works better.

•I tried that strategy for weeks with no success. The phone system is just overwhelmed.

There's also a chat feature on the Washington ESD website but it's usually offline or has huge wait times. Sometimes you can submit a message through SecureAccess Washington but don't expect a quick response.

•I tried the chat yesterday and waited 2 hours before giving up. The message system seems useless too.

•Yeah, the online options are pretty limited. Phone is really your best bet for getting actual help.

I've been dealing with Washington ESD for months now and honestly the phone system is broken. I've probably called 500+ times total and only gotten through twice. It's completely unacceptable.

CosmicCruiser
•500 times?! How is that even possible? This system is so messed up.

•That's exactly why services like Claimyr exist - the regular system just doesn't work for most people.

•I'm still not convinced about paying for something that should be free, but I'm getting desperate.

Pro tip: if you do get through to someone, have all your information ready - claim number, social security number, employment history, etc. They might transfer you or hang up if you're not prepared with everything they need.

•Good advice! I'll make sure to have everything written down before I call.

•Yes, definitely be prepared. The agents are usually pretty helpful once you actually get someone on the line.

Just wanted to add that if your claim is in adjudication, you might also want to try calling the adjudication line directly. I think it's a different number but I don't remember what it is off the top of my head.

•I'm not sure if mine is in adjudication or just regular processing. How can you tell the difference?
0 coins
Zara Rashid
•If it says 'adjudication in progress' on your claim status, that's a specific review process. Regular pending claims are different.

I was skeptical about Claimyr too but after wasting literally weeks trying to call Washington ESD myself, I decided to give it a shot. Got connected to an agent within a few hours and resolved my issue that same day. Sometimes you just have to weigh the cost vs. your time and sanity.

•That does sound appealing. I'm already planning to take time off work to try calling all day.

•I hate that we're in a position where we have to pay to access services we're entitled to, but I'm starting to understand why people do it.

Another option is to try calling right before they close at 4pm. Sometimes the call volume drops off then too. But honestly, the whole system is a mess and needs to be fixed.
0 coins
CosmicCruiser
•I'll try that too. At this point I'm willing to try anything to get through.

Anastasia Fedorov
•The 4pm thing doesn't work as well because they stop taking new calls 15-30 minutes before closing.

Just keep trying the main number. I know it's frustrating but eventually you'll get through. Make sure you're calling from a phone number that's on file with Washington ESD or they might not take your call.

•Good point about the phone number. I'll make sure to call from the number I used when I filed my claim.

has anyone tried calling the local workforce office instead? sometimes they can help with basic questions

CosmicCruiser
•I didn't know that was an option. Do you have a number for that?

•WorkSource offices can help with some things but for claim-specific issues you really need to talk to Washington ESD directly.

I feel your pain. Been trying to reach them for 3 weeks about my disqualification. The phone system is absolutely broken and needs to be completely overhauled.

CosmicCruiser
•3 weeks?! That's terrible. I hope you get through soon.

•Disqualification issues are exactly the kind of thing Claimyr can help with. Time sensitive stuff like that can't wait for the broken phone system.

UPDATE: I just tried calling 800-318-6022 and got through after about 45 minutes! The agent was really helpful and cleared up my issue. So it is possible, just takes patience.

CosmicCruiser
•That gives me hope! What time did you call?

•Around 10:30am. I just kept redialing when I got the busy signal.

•45 minutes isn't too bad compared to what some people have experienced. Glad you got through!

For anyone reading this thread, just be prepared that calling Washington ESD is going to be an all-day affair. Clear your schedule, get comfortable, and start dialing early. The system is broken but it's what we have to work with.

CosmicCruiser
•Yeah, I'm starting to realize this is going to take a lot more time and effort than I thought.

•Or you could just use Claimyr and actually get through without wasting your whole day. That's exactly why I switched to using them.

The fact that we're all here sharing tips on how to reach a government agency that's supposed to serve us is pretty ridiculous. But anyway, good luck to everyone trying to get through.

•You're absolutely right. This shouldn't be so difficult.

•Agreed, but until the system gets fixed, we have to work with what we have.

Final thought - if you do manage to get through to Washington ESD, be really nice to the agent. They're dealing with frustrated people all day and a little kindness goes a long way. They're more likely to help you if you're patient and polite.

CosmicCruiser
•Absolutely. I know none of this is the individual agents' fault. Thanks everyone for all the advice and support!

•Great point. The agents are just trying to do their jobs in a broken system.
