What's the number to Washington ESD unemployment office?
I've been trying to find the right phone number for Washington ESD unemployment but there's like 5 different numbers on their website and I'm not sure which one to call. My claim got denied last week and I need to talk to someone about appealing it. Does anyone know the actual number that gets you to a real person? I've been going in circles on their automated system.

The main number is 800-318-6022 but good luck getting through. I've been calling for 2 weeks straight and either get disconnected or put on hold for hours.

•Ugh that's what I was afraid of. Did you ever get through to anyone?

•That number works but you have to call right at 8am when they open. Even then it's hit or miss.

For appeals specifically you want the adjudication line at 855-682-0785. But honestly the wait times are insane right now. Have you tried using their online messaging system through your SecureAccess Washington account?

•I tried messaging but they said it could take 7-10 business days for a response and I can't wait that long

•The messaging system is worthless. I sent a message 3 weeks ago and still haven't heard back.

I was having the same problem getting through to Washington ESD until someone told me about this service called Claimyr. They basically call for you and get you connected to an actual agent. I was skeptical at first but it actually worked - got through in like 20 minutes instead of spending all day redialing. Check out claimyr.com, they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works.

•How much does that cost? Seems too good to be true

•It's totally worth it when you're dealing with something urgent like an appeal deadline. Way better than wasting entire days trying to get through on your own.

•I've heard of that service but never tried it. Did they actually get you to the right department?

Here are all the Washington ESD phone numbers I have saved: • Main UI line: 800-318-6022 • Adjudication/Appeals: 855-682-0785 • Fraud hotline: 800-246-9763 • Employer line: 855-457-3553 For your appeal situation definitely use the adjudication line. Best times to call are first thing in the morning or right after lunch around 1pm.

•Thank you! This is exactly what I needed. Going to try the adjudication line tomorrow morning.

•That lunch time tip is gold. I never thought to try calling then.

just use the website its easier than calling

•You can't file an appeal online, you have to talk to someone or mail paperwork

•Actually you can start the appeal process online but for complex cases you really need to speak with someone to understand your options.

I feel your pain. Washington ESD's phone system is a nightmare. I spent 6 hours on hold last month just to ask one simple question about my job search requirements. The whole system is broken.

•SIX HOURS?! That's insane. Did you at least get your question answered?

Tony Brooks
•Yeah eventually but by then I was so frustrated I could barely think straight. There has to be a better way.

Pro tip: if you call the main number and keep pressing 0 during the automated menu, sometimes it transfers you to a live person faster than going through all the prompts.

Jackson Carter
•I'll try that! Does it work consistently or just sometimes?

•It's hit or miss but worth trying when you're desperate. Sometimes it hangs up on you though.

The whole situation with Washington ESD phone lines is ridiculous. They laid off so many staff during budget cuts but didn't reduce the call volume. We're all suffering because of their poor planning.

Evelyn Rivera
•The staffing issue is real but they've been hiring more agents recently. The problem is training new people takes time.

•Meanwhile we're all stuck in limbo waiting for basic help with our claims.

Have you tried calling your local WorkSource office? Sometimes they can help with Washington ESD issues or at least point you in the right direction. My local office helped me figure out my job search log requirements.

Jackson Carter
•I didn't know they could help with ESD stuff. I thought WorkSource was just for job searching.

•They work together more than people realize. Worth a shot if you can't get through to ESD directly.

Update: I finally got through using that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier. Took about 25 minutes and I was talking to an actual Washington ESD agent. They helped me resolve my adjudication issue that had been pending for a month. Definitely recommend it if you're stuck.

•Seriously? That actually worked? I might have to try it because this is getting desperate.

•Told you it works! Sometimes you just have to admit the regular way isn't working and try something different.

Tony Brooks
•I'm still skeptical but if it got you through to resolve an adjudication issue maybe it's worth it.

For future reference, if your appeal gets denied you have 30 days to request a hearing with the Office of Administrative Hearings. Don't wait until the last minute because the process takes time. Make sure you have all your documentation ready.
0 coins
Jackson Carter
•Good to know. Hopefully it doesn't come to that but I'll keep it in mind.

Evelyn Rivera
•The hearing process is much more formal than the initial appeal so definitely prepare thoroughly if it gets to that point.

this happened to my brother last year and he just kept calling every day until someone answered. took him like 2 weeks but he got it sorted out

Jackson Carter
•Two weeks of calling every day sounds exhausting but I guess that's what it takes

Arjun Patel
•That's the problem - we shouldn't have to dedicate our lives to getting basic customer service from a government agency.

Make sure when you do get through that you have your Social Security number, claim confirmation number, and any relevant documents ready. Nothing worse than finally reaching someone and not having the info they need.

Jackson Carter
•Great point. I'll make a list of everything I might need before I start calling.

•Also have a pen and paper ready to take notes. The agents talk fast and you don't want to forget important details.

I gave up trying to call and just drove to the local office. Waited 3 hours but at least I talked to someone face to face. Not sure if that's still an option with COVID restrictions though.

•I thought all the local offices were closed for in-person visits?

•Most Washington ESD offices are appointment-only now and they're very limited. Phone or online is really your best bet.

Just want to echo what others have said about Claimyr - it really does work. I used it twice now when I couldn't get through the normal way. The second time was for a job search requirement question and they got me to the right department immediately. Check out their demo video if you're curious how it works.

•You keep mentioning this service... do you work for them or something?

Jade Lopez
•No I just genuinely found it helpful when I was frustrated with the normal phone system. Just sharing what worked for me.

The automated system is designed to discourage people from calling. It's intentionally confusing and frustrating. Stick with it though because talking to a real person is the only way to get complex issues resolved.
0 coins
Jackson Carter
•That's probably true. It definitely feels designed to make you give up.
0 coins
Tony Brooks
•Exactly. They're hoping people will just accept whatever decision they made instead of fighting it.

Final tip: when you do get through, ask the agent for their direct extension or supervisor contact if possible. Some agents will give you a way to reach them directly if you need follow-up help. Not all will do this but it's worth asking.
0 coins
Jackson Carter
•That's smart. Having a direct contact would save so much time if I need to call back.

Kolton Murphy
•I never thought to ask for that. Wish I had known that when I was dealing with my issues.

Thanks everyone for all the help and phone numbers. I'm going to try the adjudication line first thing tomorrow morning. If that doesn't work I'll probably give that Claimyr service a try since so many people here said it worked for them. Will update if I get through!

•Good luck! Remember you only have 30 days from the denial date to appeal so don't wait too long.

•Hope you get it sorted out. The appeal process can be stressful but if you have a valid case it's worth fighting.
