Washington ESD unemployment office phone number - can't find the right one to call
I've been searching everywhere for the Washington ESD unemployment office phone number but there are so many different numbers listed online. Some are for employers, some are automated systems, and I keep getting transferred around. I need to speak to someone about my claim status but can't figure out which number actually gets me to a real person. Does anyone know the direct number to reach an actual Washington ESD representative?

The main Washington ESD customer service number is 800-318-6022, but good luck getting through. I've been trying for weeks and either get busy signals or stuck in automated menus that go nowhere.

•Thanks! I'll try that number. How long did you usually wait on hold when you did get through?

•When I actually got in the queue, it was usually 2-3 hours. Most of the time I just got disconnected after waiting.

There's also 855-782-8222 but that one seems to be even busier. The automated system will sometimes tell you the estimated wait time is over 4 hours.

•4 hours?? That's insane. How are people supposed to get help with their claims?

•The phone system has been overwhelmed for years. Washington ESD just doesn't have enough staff to handle the call volume.

I actually found a service called Claimyr that helped me get through to Washington ESD faster. You can check it out at claimyr.com - they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works. Basically they handle the calling and waiting for you.

•Is that legit? Sounds too good to be true.

•Yeah it's real. They don't ask for any personal info, just call on your behalf and conference you in when they get through to an agent.

•That's interesting. I'll look into that if I can't get through the regular way.

Best times to call are right when they open at 8am or during lunch around noon. Avoid Mondays and Fridays if possible.

•I tried calling at 8am sharp and still couldn't get through. The lines are jammed from the second they open.

•You have to start dialing at like 7:58am and keep hitting redial. Sometimes you get lucky.

There's a technical support line too at 855-457-0094 but that's only for website issues, not claim questions.

•Good to know. I was wondering if there was a separate tech support number.

The Washington ESD website has a callback feature but it never works. I've requested callbacks multiple times and never heard back.

•Same here. The callback system is basically useless.

•The callback feature was supposed to reduce phone volume but it's been broken for months.

Try the Spanish language line if you speak Spanish - sometimes it's less busy. But they should be able to help in English too if needed.

•What's the Spanish line number?

Carlos Mendoza
•It's the same numbers but you select the Spanish option. Sometimes the wait is shorter.

I've had better luck with the live chat on their website than calling. Takes forever to get connected but at least you don't have to listen to hold music.

•Wait, there's a live chat? Where do you find that on the site?

•It's buried in the help section. Sometimes it's not available though.

Honestly, Claimyr was the only thing that worked for me. I was getting nowhere with the regular phone lines and needed to resolve an adjudication issue. Worth checking out if you're stuck.

•How quickly did they get you through?

Lena Müller
•It took about 45 minutes instead of the usual 3+ hours. Made a huge difference.

The unemployment office phone system is a joke. I've wasted entire days trying to get through just to ask a simple question about my weekly claim.

•Tell me about it. The whole system needs an overhaul.

•At least they finally got rid of the old phone system that would just hang up on you.

Pro tip: if you get through to someone who can't help with your specific issue, ask them to transfer you instead of hanging up and starting over.

•Good advice. I always hang up when they say they can't help, but asking for a transfer makes sense.

•Sometimes the transfer doesn't work though and you get disconnected anyway.

I keep a log of when I call and how long I wait. My record is 4 hours and 23 minutes on hold before getting disconnected. So frustrating.

•That's dedication! I usually give up after an hour.

•That's exactly why I ended up using Claimyr. Couldn't waste any more time sitting on hold.

Make sure you have your Social Security number and PIN ready before calling. Nothing worse than finally getting through and not having your info ready.

•Also have your claim number if you know it. Speeds things up.

•And be ready to verify your identity multiple ways. They ask a lot of security questions.

The 800 number seems to work better than the 855 numbers in my experience. Not sure why but I get through more often.

•I'll try focusing on the 800 number then. Thanks for the tip.

Has anyone tried showing up in person at a local office? Wondering if that's more effective than calling.

•Most offices are appointment only now. You still have to call to schedule.

•Some offices have walk-in hours but they're very limited.

The phone system is designed to discourage people from calling. It's intentionally difficult to get through.

Astrid Bergström
•That's a pretty cynical view but I can see why you'd think that.

•Given how hard it is to reach them, it does feel intentional sometimes.

I finally got through last week after using that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier. Took way less time than trying to call myself.

Keep trying different numbers and times. Eventually something will work. The key is persistence.
