What is the Washington ESD unemployment office number - can't find direct line
I've been trying to find the direct phone number for Washington ESD unemployment office but everything I find online just leads to automated systems or generic customer service. I need to talk to someone about my weekly claim that got rejected last week. Does anyone have the actual number where you can reach a real person? I've been calling the main line at 800-318-6022 but it just hangs up on me after 20 minutes on hold.

That's the right number but it's basically impossible to get through. I've been trying for weeks to get someone about my adjudication issue.

•How many times did you try calling? I'm wondering if there's a better time of day.

•I tried probably 50+ times. Usually get disconnected or it says call volume too high.

The main customer service line is 800-318-6022 but honestly your best bet is calling right when they open at 8am. Even then it's hit or miss. There's also a callback option sometimes but I've never had anyone actually call me back.

•I tried at 8am sharp yesterday and still couldn't get through. This is so frustrating.

•Yeah the system is completely overwhelmed. Have you tried their online chat? Sometimes that works better than calling.

I actually found a service called Claimyr that helped me get through to Washington ESD last month. You go to claimyr.com and they basically call for you and get you connected to an actual agent. There's a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works. Saved me hours of calling.

•Is that legit? How does it work exactly? I'm desperate at this point.

•Yeah it's totally legit. They handle the calling and waiting part, then conference you in when they reach an agent. Way better than sitting on hold for hours.

•I was skeptical at first but tried it too and actually got through to someone about my overpayment issue. Much easier than the regular calling nightmare.

The phone system is absolutely broken. I spent 6 hours total last week trying to reach someone about my job search requirements and never got through once. It's ridiculous that we can't even contact the agency that's supposed to help us.

•Same here, it's like they don't want us to be able to contact them.

•Exactly! And then they wonder why people have issues with their claims when we can't even ask questions.

If you need to speak with someone urgently, you can also try visiting a WorkSource office in person. They can sometimes help with basic unemployment questions or at least escalate your issue. But calling is still the main way to reach Washington ESD directly.

•That's a good idea. Is there a specific WorkSource location that handles unemployment better than others?

•Not really, they're all connected to the same system. But having someone help you in person can sometimes make a difference.

Update: I tried the Claimyr service that someone mentioned and it actually worked! Got connected to a Washington ESD agent within 30 minutes and resolved my weekly claim issue. Definitely recommend if you're stuck like I was.

•That's awesome! I'm definitely going to try that for my adjudication problem.

Another tip - if you do get through to someone, have all your information ready (Social Security number, claim details, specific questions written down). The agents are usually helpful but they can't spend a lot of time on each call.

•Good point. I made sure to have everything written down when I finally got through.

•Yes! And don't hang up if they put you on hold during the call. Sometimes they need to look things up.

The 800-318-6022 number is correct but like everyone said, it's nearly impossible to get through during normal business hours. I've had better luck calling late in the day around 4pm but still took multiple attempts.

•I'll try that time slot, thanks for the tip!

•No problem, hope it helps. The system is just overwhelmed constantly.

Has anyone tried emailing instead of calling? I know it's not as fast but wondering if they actually respond to emails.

•I tried emailing through their secure message system and got a generic response after 2 weeks. Not very helpful.

•Same experience here. Email responses are super slow and usually don't answer the actual question.

The phone situation is why I ended up using Claimyr too. Tried calling for days about my standby status and couldn't get through. Used their service and got connected same day. Worth it just for the peace of mind.

•How quick was the whole process? I need to resolve something before my next weekly claim.

•It was pretty fast, maybe 45 minutes total including the actual call with the agent.

For what it's worth, I keep a log of all my calling attempts with times and dates. That way if there are any issues later I can show I tried to reach them multiple times. Might be useful for appeals or other situations.

•Smart idea. Documentation is always good when dealing with government agencies.

•I do the same thing. Screenshots of busy signals and everything.

The whole system needs an overhaul. It shouldn't be this hard to contact the unemployment office when people are already stressed about their claims.

•Agreed. Other states seem to have better phone systems than Washington ESD.

•It's been like this for years though. Don't think it's going to change anytime soon.
