ESD weekly unemployment payments delayed? Normal deposit timing?
This is my first time filing for unemployment after being laid off from construction work last month. I submitted my weekly claim on Sunday night like they said to, but it's now Wednesday and still nothing in my bank account. Is this normal? What day do payments usually hit our accounts? The ESD website shows 'paid' status but I'm getting worried since rent is coming up. Do direct deposits take longer the first time?

Generally, if you filed on Sunday and have direct deposit set up, you should see the payment by Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest. First payments can sometimes take a bit longer because they're verifying everything in the system. Did you check your ESD account to see if it shows 'paid' status?

•Thanks for responding! Yes, it shows 'paid' on the ESD website since yesterday morning, but still nothing in my account. Maybe it's just my bank being slow?

Mine is ALWAYS on Tuesdays by 9am. Like clockwork. First payment took forever (like 3 weeks) but after that its been super reliable. If your ESD account says paid but no money, might want to double check your banking info is entered correctly in the system!!!

•Oh that's making me nervous now. I'll go back and verify my account numbers. I thought I entered everything correctly but maybe I messed something up.

The timing can vary quite a bit based on: 1. Your bank - some process ACH transfers faster than others 2. When you filed - filing early Sunday vs late Sunday can affect it 3. If it's your first payment - these often take longer for verification If ESD shows 'paid' status, the money is on its way. If it doesn't arrive by Friday, then I'd start getting concerned. Make sure your banking info is correct in your profile, and that there aren't any holds on your account.

•Thank you for the detailed explanation! I filed around 8pm Sunday, so maybe that's why. I'll wait until Friday before I start making calls.

I had this EXACT problem last month! ESD said paid but nothing in my account for DAYS. Turns out I had accidentally transposed two numbers in my account when I set everything up. Spent HOURS trying to get through to ESD on the phone to fix it. Finally gave up and used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get connected right away. They got an agent on the phone in like 10 minutes who fixed my banking info. You can see how it works here: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Totally worth it since the payment was processed correctly the next day.

•Thanks for the suggestion. I just triple-checked my banking info and everything looks correct, so hopefully it's just taking time. If I don't see it by Friday I might try that service to get through to someone.

•I'm with Chase. No holidays this week that I know of, but maybe they're just backed up with processing.

Mine is always on Tuesday mornings except last month when it randomly showed up on Thursday for no reason whatsoever. ESD systems are super inconsistent sometimes. As long as it says paid you'll get it eventually!!!

•That's reassuring! It's stressful when you're counting on the money. I'll try to be patient.

Just as an update for anyone finding this thread later - Washington ESD processing times in 2025 are typically: - Sunday filing: Payment processing Monday, deposit Tuesday/Wednesday - Monday filing: Payment processing Tuesday, deposit Wednesday/Thursday But your first payment can take 1-2 days longer as they verify your banking details. Also, if there are any holidays or system maintenance, that can push everything back a day or two. Always check your ESD account for the most current status.

•UPDATE: The money just hit my account this morning (Thursday)! Thanks everyone for the help and reassurance. Seems like it just takes a little longer sometimes, especially for first payments.
