ESD showing payment as 'paid' but money not in Bank of America account - anyone else?

Hey everyone, super stressed right now! I usually get my unemployment benefits like clockwork - my ESD account updates to 'paid' status on Wednesday mornings and the money hits my Bank of America account shortly after (usually by 9am). Today my ESD portal is showing 'paid' but it's already 2pm and nothing in my account! This is the first time in 7 weeks this has happened. I've got rent due tomorrow and I'm starting to panic a little. I tried calling ESD about 8 times this morning but keep getting the 'high call volume' message and it hangs up. Is anyone else experiencing a delay with Bank of America deposits this week? Or is something weird happening with the ESD payment system? Really need this money to clear today...

same here! BoA account and nothings there yet. esd says paid since 8am. usually hits by 10 latest. somthings up today for sure

Oh thank god it's not just me! Have you tried calling Bank of America? I'm wondering if it's on their end or ESD's end.

I've been on unemployment for about 6 months now, and there have been a couple of times when my payment showed as "paid" but didn't hit my account until the next day. Sometimes there are processing delays between ESD and the banks. It's frustrating but usually resolves within 24 hours. If it makes you feel better, I called Bank of America about this exact issue once, and they told me that ACH transfers from government entities sometimes get held for additional verification, especially if the amount varies from previous deposits. Have you had any changes to your benefit amount recently?

That's a huge relief to hear! My benefit amount did actually change this week - I reported some part-time hours, so it's about $170 less than normal. Maybe that triggered some extra verification like you mentioned. I'll try to be patient until tomorrow morning, but it's stressful with bills due!

I don't use Bank of America, but there seems to be a systemic delay with ESD payments this week. I'm in several Facebook groups for WA unemployment claimants and LOTS of people are posting about this exact issue today - payment shows paid but no money in accounts yet, across different banks. Someone said they called ESD (after trying for hours) and were told there's a processing delay on their end that should be resolved by end of day or tomorrow morning latest.

I've been dealing with Washington ESD for over a year now, and I can tell you that these "technical delays" happen at least once every couple of months. It's INFURIATING!!! The system is so BROKEN. I bet they never even bother to post announcements about these delays because they don't want to admit their system is held together with duct tape. Meanwhile, we're all scrambling to pay bills and wondering if we did something wrong on our weekly claim. And good luck trying to call them - it's virtually IMPOSSIBLE to get through on their regular line!

For anyone struggling to reach ESD by phone, I found a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that really helped me get through when I had an adjudication issue last month. They basically hold your place in line and call you when an agent is available. I was skeptical at first, but their video demo convinced me (https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3). Beats spending hours hitting redial just to get hung up on repeatedly.

My payment just hit my account at 4:37pm! I'm with BoA too. Seems like they're just running several hours behind today. Check your accounts again, folks!

OMG THANK YOU for the update! Just checked and mine is there too! What a relief. I guess they were just super delayed today for some reason. Next week I'll try not to panic if this happens again.

This happens occasionally when ESD's payment processing system has a hiccup. For future reference, if your claim has been problem-free for a while and suddenly the timing is off, it's almost always a system-wide delay rather than something specific to your claim. One tip: always file your weekly claim on Sunday (the earliest day possible). This gives the maximum buffer time in case of processing delays. I've noticed claims filed on Sunday usually process Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, while claims filed Monday or Tuesday sometimes don't process until Thursday.

That would explain it! It would be nice if they sent out emails or something when they're doing system updates that might affect payments. The lack of communication is what causes all the panic.

Just wanted to update everyone that I called ESD this morning (got through after about 45 minutes on hold) and they confirmed there was a processing delay with their ACH payment batch yesterday. The representative said all delayed payments should have been processed by midnight last night, and that this was due to a scheduled system update that took longer than expected. If anyone still hasn't received their payment by now, that would be unusual and worth calling about specifically.

Thank you so much for sharing this information! Mine did come through yesterday afternoon. I appreciate you taking the time to call and then post what you learned here. Very helpful for the community.
