ESD sent double payment last week, nothing this week - payment schedule issue?
I'm totally confused about my UI payments right now. Last Wednesday I got TWO separate payments of my regular benefit amount ($674 each) deposited into my account. I was surprised but figured maybe it was catching up from something? But now this week rolled around and I got absolutely NOTHING. My weekly claim says 'processed - paid' but no money showed up. Has anyone else had weird payment scheduling issues like this? I'm worried ESD is going to say I owe them money for that double payment, but I also need this week's payment for my rent! Should I call them or just wait?

This happened to me in February. The double payment was actually a retroactive adjustment for a previous week they underpaid you. Check your payment history in eServices under 'UI Claim Details' and you'll see which weeks each payment was for. One was probably for an older week. The missing payment this week might be unrelated - sometimes there's a bank processing delay, especially if you changed any direct deposit info recently.

•Just checked my payment history like you suggested - you're right! One payment was for a week in January when I had reported some part-time hours but they had calculated it wrong initially. So that makes sense now. But still nothing showing up for this week and my rent is due Friday 😬

•I hope you're right! It's just stressful when you're counting on the money showing up on a specific day and then it doesn't.

I strongly recommend calling ESD directly about this. When payment patterns change like this, it's often because there's an issue they need to verify with you. The system might be holding your payment pending a review of the double payment situation. They won't answer these questions in eServices messages - you need to speak with an agent. I was stuck in a similar situation last month and couldn't get through on the phones for days. I finally used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me through to an ESD agent in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 The agent I spoke with was able to immediately see what was happening with my irregular payments and fixed it on the spot.

•Thanks! I'll check out that service if I can't get through tomorrow morning. You're right that I should probably talk to someone directly rather than just wait and hope.

THE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO CONFUSE PPL!!! i swear they do this on purpose to make us give up. they sent me 3 payments one week then NOTHING for 2 weeks then said i was overpaid and took $$$ back. its all a big GAME to them while we struggle to pay bills. good luck getting a straight answer when u call - they'll just blame the "system" 🙄

•So true. ESD's payment system is beyond frustrating. I've had weeks where the money came 5 days late with zero explanation.

Have you checked if there are any new alerts or messages in your eServices inbox? Sometimes they'll send a notice about payment holds or adjustments but it doesn't trigger an email notification. Also check if your claim status changed from active to pending or if there are any new issues listed under your claim details tab.

•Good idea - I just looked and there aren't any new messages. My claim still shows active and no pending issues. It's like the payment just vanished into thin air!

Another thing to check: did you recently pass your benefit year end date? Sometimes there's a payment gap when your claim rolls over to a new benefit year, even if you have remaining benefits. The system might be recalculating your eligibility. They don't make this clear anywhere in the portal.

•Just checked - my benefit year end date is still a few months away (September 2025). So that's not it either. This is so confusing!

Quick update: just got my payment today! It was just delayed for some reason. The double payment from last week was indeed for a back-week adjustment like someone mentioned. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions!

•Great news! Their payment processing is so unpredictable sometimes.

•Glad it worked out! This is pretty common with ESD - their payment processing schedule seems to shift randomly sometimes. For future reference, it's helpful to know that while they usually process claims quickly, the actual bank deposit can take 1-3 business days depending on your bank and any holidays.
