ESD says 'Paid' but 'Benefits Paid' shows $0.00 - payment glitch?
Super confused right now... Just checked my ESD account and noticed something weird. It shows my claim status as 'Paid' for this week, but when I look at the 'Benefits Paid' section, it's showing $0.00! I've been on unemployment since December and never had this happen before. My weekly benefit amount is supposed to be $827. Has anyone else seen this kind of glitch where it says paid but shows zero dollars? Should I be worried my money isn't coming? I've got rent due next week and really need this payment to process correctly.

•That's somewhat reassuring! Did you have to do anything to fix it, or it just sorted itself out? I'm checking my bank account obsessively now.

This is a common display issue in the ESD portal that happens during their overnight processing. The system marks claims as 'Paid' during the first stage of payment processing, but the 'Benefits Paid' amount doesn't update until the ACH transfer is actually initiated, which happens in a separate system process. If you filed your weekly claim on Sunday and are checking Monday/Tuesday, this is normal. The amount should update within 24-48 hours, and the deposit typically appears in your bank 1-2 business days after that. If it still shows $0.00 after 3 business days, then you might want to contact ESD as there could be an actual payment issue like a hold on your account or a deduction that's taking your full benefit amount.

•Oh thank you for explaining! Yes, I filed Sunday night and I'm checking Tuesday morning. That makes more sense. I'll wait another day before panicking then.

Mine did that once when they were taking money out for child support. Could be deductions?

•Oh wow, I didn't think about deductions. I don't have child support, but I did agree to tax withholding. But that wouldn't take the WHOLE amount, right?

•No, tax withholding is typically around 10% of your benefit amount, so it wouldn't reduce it to zero. If you had an overpayment they're recouping, that could potentially take your full benefit, but you would have received notices about that.

I had this EXACT issue in January!!! The system is totally glitchy - it said $0 for like 3 days but then fixed itself and I got paid normal amount. ESD's system is so frustrating. One time I tried calling about a different issue and was on hold for 4 HOURS before getting disconnected. Then when I finally did get through a week later, they told me it was something I could have fixed online myself. So much time wasted!

•If you're having trouble reaching ESD by phone, you might want to try Claimyr. They helped me get through to an actual agent in about 20 minutes when I had a similar issue with a payment not showing up correctly. Their system basically navigates the phone tree and holds your place in line, then calls you when they get an agent. Saved me hours of frustration. You can see how it works in their video demo: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 or check out claimyr.com. It was genuinely helpful when I was stressing about my benefits not coming through.

Are you SURE you don't have any issues with your claim? Did you check the "Decisions" tab too? Sometimes they'll process a payment but then hold it if there's an adjudication or eligibility issue. When that happens, it can show as "Paid" in one place but then the money never actually gets sent. Check if you have any new letters or alerts in your ESD inbox too.

•Just checked the Decisions tab and there's nothing new there. My inbox is empty too except for the regular weekly claim confirmation. I'm hoping it's just the system delay others mentioned.

•OK good. In that case it's probably just the stupid system lag everyone's talking about. The ESD computers are from like 1972 I swear. 🙄

Just wanted to follow up - did your payment end up processing correctly? It should have updated by now if it was just the normal system delay.

•Yes! You were right. I checked this morning and the Benefits Paid section now shows the correct amount, and the money just hit my bank account about an hour ago. Thanks everyone for the help and keeping me from having a complete meltdown over this!
