ESD account showing paid $0.00 but money never arrived - will this change?
Has anybody else gotten confused by the ESD payment status? My account shows my weekly claim as 'paid' with an amount of $0.00, but I've obviously never received any payment. This is the first time this has happened to me. I filed last Wednesday like usual, got approved on Friday, and today it's showing 'paid' but with $0.00. I've been on unemployment for about 6 weeks after my restaurant closed, and all my previous payments came through fine with the correct amounts. Is this a system glitch, or does it mean I'm suddenly not eligible anymore? The eServices dashboard doesn't show any alerts or issues with my claim. I'm worried because my rent is due next week and I was counting on this payment.

This usually means there's an eligibility issue that hasn't been flagged yet in the system. Check if you reported any earnings, missed answering a question, or if something changed with your job search activities. The $0.00 paid status typically happens when there's a hold on your benefits that hasn't fully processed into an official adjudication yet. You should call ESD right away to find out what's happening before it turns into a bigger issue.

•Thanks for the info. I didn't report any earnings since I haven't worked, and I did my 3 job search activities like always. I'll try calling tomorrow morning. Has anyone successfully gotten through to a real person at ESD lately?

•That's good to hear! Did they fix it automatically or did you have to talk to someone to get it resolved?

The $0.00 paid status is actually a pretty common ESD system issue right now. I've worked in HR for 10 years and have been helping our employees navigate unemployment after our tech company downsized. This specific issue happens when the payment process initiates but encounters a validation error during the final processing stage. It's most commonly triggered by: 1) A recent change to your claim information 2) A job search verification flag in their system 3) A mismatch between your reported information and employer-reported data 4) Simply a system glitch during the payment processing The most important thing is to contact ESD immediately. These issues can sometimes resolve automatically within a week, but often require agent intervention to clear. When you speak with them, specifically ask them to check for 'payment validation exceptions' in your account.

•Wow, thank you for this detailed information. I wonder if it's because I updated my address in the system last week - maybe that triggered something? I'll definitely ask about the 'payment validation exceptions' when I call.

When I call ESD I use this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that gets me through to an agent without having to wait on hold for hours. It seriously saved me when I had a similar issue with my payments showing $0.00. They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Basically they wait on hold for you and call you when an agent picks up. Otherwise you can spend all day trying to get through the ESD phone system!

•Yeah it really does work! I was skeptical too but I got through to an agent in about 45 minutes (while I was able to do other things instead of sitting on hold).

•I'm definitely going to check this out, thanks for sharing! Did the ESD agent question how you got through or anything?

•No, they don't care how you get through - they just handle your claim normally once you're connected. The agent I spoke with was super helpful and fixed my issue right away once I finally got to talk to someone.

NOBODY AT ESD KNOWS WHAT THEY'RE DOING!! I had the exact same problem and every agent told me something different. First one said it was normal, second one said my claim was flagged for fraud review, third one said it was a system error. Took THREE WEEKS to get my money and I almost got evicted! ESD is completely broken, incompetent, and useless. They should all be fired!!!

•Although the system definitely has problems, I've found that being calm and specific with the agents usually gets better results. When I had payment issues, I asked them to specifically check the payment processing system and transaction logs, which led them to find the exact error.

Just wanted to follow up - did you get your issue resolved? For anyone else experiencing this issue in the future, there's actually a formal process for these $0.00 payment errors. You need to: 1) Contact ESD and specifically request a "payment recalculation review" 2) Have them check if there's a "wage validation exception" or a "payment processing exception" 3) Ask them to verify your monetary eligibility hasn't changed In about 80% of cases, this is a simple system error that can be fixed within 48 hours once properly identified. The other 20% involve some type of eligibility question that needs to be resolved.

•Yes! Thank you for asking. I used that Claimyr service someone mentioned and got through to ESD yesterday. The agent said it was a system glitch related to my address change. They submitted what they called a "payment reprocessing request" and this morning the correct amount showed up in my account! Money should be in my bank account tomorrow. Really appreciate everyone's help!
