ESD approved my UI claim but no payments showing up - when will I get paid?
I'm super confused about what's happening with my unemployment. I got my decision letter from ESD 9 days ago saying I was approved for benefits (yay!) but I still haven't received a single payment yet. My eServices account just shows 'processed - paid' for my weekly claims but nothing has hit my bank account. I've triple-checked my direct deposit info and everything looks correct. Is there some kind of waiting period I don't know about? This is my first time on unemployment and I've got rent due next week. Starting to panic a little...

•Seriously?? 12 days?? Did you have to call them or did it just magically appear one day?

There's actually a processing delay between when your claim is approved and when payments begin. If your weekly claims show 'processed - paid' that's a good sign, but here are a few things to check: 1. Verify your payment method is set up correctly (direct deposit vs debit card) 2. Make sure you don't have any pending issues on your account 3. Check if there's a waiting week that hasn't been paid (first week is unpaid unless that requirement is waived) If it's been more than 10 business days since approval, you should definitely contact ESD. They can confirm if payments have been sent.

•Thanks for this! I just checked again and yes, it says my first week was a 'waiting week' so maybe that's why I'm confused about the timeline. But I've filed for 3 weeks total now and still nothing. I'll keep waiting a few more days I guess?

THEY'RE DOING THIS ON PURPOSE!!! ESD approves you then makes you wait weeks hoping you'll give up or find a job so they don't have to pay you. Happened to my brother and THREE of my friends!! They'll make every excuse in the book about "processing times" but it's all BS. The system is DESIGNED to be frustrating!!!

•This isn't accurate. While ESD does have processing delays, they're not intentionally withholding payments after approval. Once your claim is approved, payments are processed according to standard schedules. The issue is more often technical or administrative rather than deliberate.

Have you tried calling them to ask? I was in a similar situation back in January where my approval came through but no payments for like 2 weeks. When I finally got someone on the phone, turns out there was a verification flag on my account that wasn't showing up in my eServices portal. They fixed it right away and I got paid 3 days later.

•I've been trying to call ESD every day this week but can't get through! Just constant busy signals or it hangs up automatically saying they're experiencing high call volume. It's so frustrating because I don't even know if there's a problem or not.

Check if ur using a prepaid bank account. Mine got delayed cuz ESD doesn't deposit to certain prepaid cards even if they accept direct deposit for other things. Had to switch to their debit card option which took another week ugh

•I'm using my regular checking account at BECU, so I don't think that's the issue. But thanks for the tip!

After dealing with the same frustrating call problem trying to reach ESD, I found this service called Claimyr that actually got me through to an ESD agent in about 20 minutes. It basically keeps dialing for you until it gets through their busy lines. Saved me days of frustration! They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 that shows how it works. Their website is claimyr.com if you want to check it out. Way better than spending hours redialing.

•Oh wow, I haven't heard of that. I'm getting desperate enough to try anything at this point. Did they actually help you when you got through?

•Yeah, when I finally got through to a real person at ESD, they found a payment block on my account that wasn't visible in my online portal. Had everything fixed in one call and my payment showed up 2 days later. Definitely worth it after I wasted a week trying to call on my own.

I work with unemployment claims regularly, and here's what's likely happening: 1. Your claim is approved but there's a payment processing schedule. 2. The "waiting week" (your first week) won't be paid - that's standard policy unless specifically waived. 3. When eServices shows "processed - paid" it means the payment has been initiated, but banking transfers can take 2-3 business days. 4. If you've filed 3 weeks total and one was a waiting week, you should see payment for the other two weeks soon. Call and speak with an ESD representative if you don't receive payment by the 14-day mark after approval. They can see if there are any holds or verification issues not visible in your portal.

•Thank you for explaining this so clearly. Today is actually day 13 since my approval letter, so I guess I'll give it one more day before really freaking out. I just wish the ESD website explained this stuff better!

•You're welcome. One other thing to check: log into your eServices account and click on the "Payment History" section. It should show the exact date payments were processed and which payment method was used. If it shows payment was sent but you haven't received it, that's when you definitely need to call.

anyone else notice the weird timing when they finally do pay? my claim was approved on a thursday but i didn't get paid until the following wednesday. my brother got approved on a tuesday and got paid friday. seems totally random lol

•It's not random - ESD typically processes payments in batches on specific days of the week. Then your bank's processing time adds 1-3 business days depending on their policies. So the actual deposit date can vary based on when your approval falls in their processing cycle.

Update: My payment FINALLY showed up this morning!! Exactly 14 days after my approval letter. Thanks everyone for your help and keeping me sane during the wait. For anyone else dealing with this - just know there seems to be about a 2-week delay between approval and actually getting paid.

•Glad to hear it worked out! Make sure to keep filing your weekly claims consistently even if there are payment delays in the future. Missing a weekly claim can cause much bigger headaches.
